A Girl Named Midari Ikishima is the first chapter of the first volume of Kakegurui Midari written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Yuuichi Hiiragi.
It is incorrectly titled "Midari and a playful Woman" in a fan translation.
Plot[]
The chapter starts with Midari Ikishima in front of the entire Student Guild and Kirari Momobami welcomes her and says she could do whatever she wants, but she had a difficult task for her: follow her wish. Then she introduced her as the new Chair of the Beautification Committee.
The winner makes the loser play again.
So, there is a brief explanation of how Hyakkaou Private School and then shows a girl winning a bet against another girl, who acquires a debt of two hundred thousand yen. As the one who won already knew she couldn't pay, she said she would lend the money again and they would play again; when the loser tries to refuse, the other one stopped her, saying that she didn't accept refusals.
She presented her with an offer which could earn her a lot of money in just one night and when the other tries to refuse again, the first claims that her opinion was not even relevant; after that, she walks away and asks her to consider the proposal, leaving right away.
The loser was now at the top of the terrace, looking at the ground, considering suicide. Before she can do anything, Midari, sitting above the door, asks her why she would do something so stupid, coming downstairs soon after considering she was in trouble and bothering others, and it's a job to clean up the mess it will cause.
Midari helps Ayame.
The other shouted at her not to come any closer because she had already made up her mind, as it was the only option; however, Midari smiles and replies that she didn't plan to stop her and suggested deciding by way of a bet: if she falls, she wins; if not, Midari wins. She approached her and claimed she would stop her from falling, kicking her and letting her fall, much to her surprise. However, Midari reaches out to her.
When Midari called her, the girl claimed she wouldn't thank her, she really wanted to die, but the other one said that's what she meant, much to the girl's confusion. Midari explained how it was a human's instinct to hold another's hand when she saw her and then screamed that she didn't really want to die, just to involve others.
Muttering that it was a waste of time, Midari headed for the door, turned to her and said she won the bet; if she tried to jump again, she would kill her. Leaving her confused, she left.
