—Izayoi Kifune to students at the Casino Dominium |
Casino Dominium is the 2nd chapter of Kakegurui Trip, written by Hikaru Muno and illustrated by Tooru Naomura.
Summary[]
The ship arrives. Passengers disembark. Outside, Mary, Yumeko, and Ryota speak of the game Yumeko has had with Izayoi. They come to the conclusion that the dealer cheated. The material of the cup made it impossible to see what was inside, and the customer didn’t think of checking it. Mary remembers something about Izayoi. She used to be a housepet and seemingly comes from poverty. Right after entering school, she found herself in a lot of debt and turned into a housepet. She managed to get a spot in the Tourism Industry Research Society[1] and escaped her status. Yumeko figures out her experience as a housepet had made her see everything it represented and was bad enough for her to despise those who too escaped. She also guesses that Izayoi has a high sense of pride.
Hundreds of students are gambling inside the resort hotel’s casino, called Casino Dominium. The trio decides to split up. Ryota plays Slots. He keeps getting drinks from the cocktail waitress. Once his credits are close to reaching zero, Yumeko finds him. He explains that he has counted on the randomness of Slots as his only way to get more earnings than Yumeko. However, he can’t do any better than getting some cherries. Yumeko plays in Ryota’s stead. After a loss, she gets the jackpot. Mary walks up to them with a voucher and a smile on her face. Yumeko and Ryota go on to convert their coins to vouchers too.

Mitarai, Yumeko, Mary, and Ryota
They sit at the counter and meet Mitarai. She’s a housepet. The manager of the casino, Izayoi, appears. She says she hopes everyone is enjoying their stay here. Students stop their gambling to look at her. She reminds everyone that a Poker Tournament will be held tomorrow inside Ryouran Island. The payout for the final winner is the quadruple of all entry fees combined. Everyone in the venue gets excited. Even those who won’t participate can bet on who they think will win. There is no upper limit to it. The tournament will be divided into rounds 1, 2 and the finals. Spectators can join in on the betting midway through. Participants must speak to a member of the staff nearby. After she concludes her announcement, Izayoi stares at Yumeko. Ryota finds this look to be the one given to housepets. He gets scared as Yumeko smiles and stares back. Izayoi walks away.
Mary fails to convince Yumeko to not participate. Meanwhile, Mitarai has disappeared.
Plot[]
Part 1[]
The ship arrives. Passengers disembark. Outside, Yumeko asks Mary and Ryota if the hotel is open yet. Full of enthusiasm, she walks ahead of the other two. Mary complains. The conversation shifts to one over the game Yumeko has had with Izayoi. Mary is certain that Izayoi has made no suspicious movements. They come to the conclusion that the dealer cheated.
The cup that the bartender has given is made of a material that makes it impossible to see what’s inside. Therefore, at the time the drink was received, the person who ordered had no idea what was inside it either; and assumed that the correct drink was in it. They deduce that the customer received a replacement drink after the game. Since they’re speaking of Izayoi, Mary remembers something about her. She used to be a housepet. Which begs the question as to why she hates them so much. Izayoi seemingly comes from poverty. Right after entering school, she found herself in a lot of debt and turned into a housepet. They don’t know how she did it, but she managed to get a spot in the Tourism Industry Research Society[1] and escaped her status. Yumeko figures out her experience as a housepet had made her see everything it represented and was bad enough for her to despise those who too escaped. She also guesses that Izayoi has a high sense of pride. Rumours say that to finance the casinos, they borrowed from lots of different sources. As the night is approaching, Yumeko hurries them to go to the casino.
They reach the resort hotel they’re planning to spend two nights in. In front of the entrance, there is a fountain. Hundreds of students are gambling in the hotel’s casino.
Part 2[]
They enter Ryota’s room on the 30th floor. It’s luxurious and contains a double bed and a television. A chandelier is used for its lighting. Mary finds the room too good for Ryota. Yumeko has an urge to gamble. To distract herself, she spreads out the curtains to look outside. They have a view on the beach. Since he feels a mix of guilt and gratitude toward Yumeko, Ryota gives her his card key so they can exchange rooms. At first, Yumeko declines. They both insist. Yumeko has a solution: for Ryota and her to stay in this room. Which surprises them. Ryota blushes. Yumeko explains that due to the bed’s size, having enough space won’t be a problem. Mary chimes in and demands that they don’t do that. Ryota says he’s just going to sleep in the linen room and keeps on insisting. As the argument settles, Mary and Yumeko will sleep in the luxurious room, which Yumeko is excited about, while Ryota will sleep in the linen room.
They move to the hotel’s restaurant, which is a buffet. Once they’re done with dinner, they enter the Casino Dominium.
Part 3[]
They enter the casino. A bunny girl walks around, which distracts Ryota. Mary notices. Yumemi welcomes students to the place and does a live performance. The three decide to split up.
Part 4[]
Ryota heads to the area where people play Slots. The machine is a customized one, notably with the added symbol of the Hyakkaou logo. He’s surprised by how expensive it costs to play but doesn’t let that draw him away. He’s ready to lose money. He presses play. Cherries align. A drink is put in front of him by the same bunny girl as before. She winks at him and Ryota keeps playing.
Part 5[]
Ryota keeps on getting drinks from the same person and his credits are close to reaching zero. Yumeko finds him. He explains that he has counted on the randomness of Slots as his only way to get more earnings than Yumeko. However, he can’t do any better than getting some cherries. They notice the word Jackpot below the word Scatter. All the slot machines are connected online. A portion of every player’s bet is pooled together. If three Hyakkaou Academy symbols with a 7 between them align, the person wins that whole pot. Ryota is starting to lose hope and he suggests that Yumeko plays. She accepts. She loses. Ryota is two losses away from reaching near zero. This time, he refuses the drink from the cocktail waitress. Yumeko gets happy as she wins the jackpot. Ryota suggests that he claim the money and pay Yumeko back later. She responds that he can keep it, as she has already won a lot from Baccarat earlier. Her bag is filled with coins. Ryota tells her to convert them to a cashout voucher. Mary walks up to them with a voucher of her own, and a smile on her face.
Part 6[]
Yumeko and Ryota have converted their coins to vouchers. The trio sits down to have drinks at the bar. Liquor bottles are lined up all over the counter. A professional plays the piano. Mary is eating a chocolate pocky.

Mitarai, Yumeko, Mary, and Ryota
A student sits two seats further away from them. She’s wearing the regular school uniform instead of the summer one. Yumeko tells her good evening. The other student shrugs her shoulders. Yumeko then cheerfully asks if she’s going to play any games. An answer is given in such a low voice that Ryota can’t even hear it. Yumeko introduces herself. The other girl does too. Her name’s Mitarai. Only a part of an eye is visible through her hair. She takes a sip of coffee. Mary reprimands Yumeko and apologizes in her stead. A housepet tag is worn by Mitarai. The manager of the casino, Izayoi, appears. She says she hopes everyone is enjoying their stay here. Students stop their gambling to look at her.
She reminds everyone that a Poker Tournament will be held tomorrow inside Ryouran Island. There is an entry fee. The payout for the final winner is the quadruple of all entry fees combined. It’s going to get announced right before the event.
Mary holds Yumeko’s shoulders and implores Yumeko to not participate. As the words don’t seem to reach her, she insists that Yumeko is going to have to join the tournament alone then. The words still didn’t reach her. Ryota looks to his left and finds that Mitarai has disappeared, her cup of coffee still here.
