'Communicating Women' is the fourth episode of Season Two in the Kakegurui animated series and the sixteenth episode overall. It is produced by MAPPA and aired in Japan on the 29th of January, 2019.
Summary[]
Mary joins the Nim Type Zero game with her newly gotten votes. While Miri and Miyo secretly communicate with each other, Mary tricked them and made them overlook the obvious. After the game, Rei also helps Yumeko and seems to have made herself popular at the school already.
Plot[]
The second round of the Nym Type Zero game begins. Miri Yobami and Miyo Inbami reflect on their past together as children where they developed their own secret communication technique. They use it to reveal their hands to each other, giving them a decided advantage. Mary instructs Suzui which cards to play, and they manage to win the round, forcing Miri to prick her finger on a poisoned needle. The third round begins and Mary bets 1 million and the others call. Mary then reveals that she knows the card distribution because Runa used the Gilbreath shuffle, preserving the order of the cards, beating Miyo and Miri who did not pay attention to the shuffle. Miyo then instructs Miri to lose, but she collapses from the poison just as she plays the card, forfeiting the game to Mary and Suzui. Later, as Yumeko recovers after Rei helped to inject the antidote, Mary decides that she must become president as Yumeko is too addicted to gambling and risking her life. Meanwhile the election gamble continues, with Kirari amassing a large number of voting chips and is about to be challenged by the Momobami clan.

Differences between anime and manga[]
- After getting Miyo and Miri’s backstory, there is anime only content where the Momobami’s talk further about Miyo. Miroslava states that Miyo and Miri’s gambling skills are high and that they are the cause of the family Civil War. Rin adds that he envies that they can get along well without being together. Again, this is all exclusive to the anime (Chapter 42).
- In the third round, Runa asks Mary for a number so she can start her shuffle. However, this is only in the manga (Chapter 42).
- When Miyo begins to suspect Runa of foul play, in the anime, Runa asks her if she’s finally noticed, in reference to her utilizing the Gilbreath shuffle. In the manga, it is Mary who asked this question (Chapter 43).
- After Miyo instructs Miri to lose on purpose in the third round, only in the manga did she have an inner monologue questioning why Miyo would threaten her when she was already willing to do whatever she said. This added on to the emotion in the scene, as it made Miri a little more sympathetic and painted Miyo as even more heartless than she was already portrayed (Chapter 43).
- Horo is beaten by Kirari and loses all of his votes before Runa first announces the top 10 frontrunners in the anime. In the manga, he loses after the announcement (Chapter 44).
- After Horo loses to Kirari and gets a little too close, Sayaka runs him off with her personal taser in the anime. In the manga, Sayaka angrily holds her taser while beside Horo, but whether she actually threatened him with it is not shown (Chapter 44).
- Because Horo loses all of his votes before the first top 10 announcements in the anime, the anime differs from the manga. The rankings for the manga are as follows:
1. Kirari Momobami 2. Terano Totobami 3. Yumemi Yumemite 4. Mary Saotome 5. Rin Obami 6. Itsuki Sumeragi 7. Miyo Inbami 8. Miroslava Honebami 9. Horo Jomaru 10. Yumeko Jabami
- In comparison to the anime, ranks number one through six stay the same, but Horo is out, Sumika becomes the new number 7, Miyo is still 8, Miroslava is now 9, and Yumeko is still 10 (Chapter 44).
