Plot[]

The episode begins with Mary Saotome annoyed passing through the corridors and drawing the attention of other students. Sayaka Igarashi, holding a box with several things on top, goes upstairs worried about something falling. She orders the others descending to stop, but she still made some small objects fall. Sighing, she crouches down to pick them up and then resumes her walk.

Jun threatens Yumeko

Jun threatens Yumeko.

Yumeko Jabami asks Jun Kiwatari what she could help her with, whereupon he simply tells her to take off her clothes, stressing that pets must obey humans, again ordering her to take off her clothes. Yumeko ponders for a moment and Jun urges her on. She starts taking off her blazer under the anxious eyes of Jun and a friend and, in doing so, she even takes off her skirt, but she doesn't, she laughs and simply says she couldn't do that because neither of them was the your kind. Jun even laughs along with her, but soon after threatens to rape her.

Ryota Suzui suddenly arrives on the scene talking about a guild member who wore a mask that came there with a stick. Jun's friend forces her to leave the place and Ryota goes to check on Yumeko's condition, to which she just replies that she was fine, thanking her for her help. Ryota worriedly advises her to be careful as it's harder for girls to be housepet. He is embarrassed when he tries to compliment her, but changes the subject and takes something out of her purse, an envelope of money and delivers it, claiming that she could use that starting capital to pay off her debts, even if it was only a small percentage of what she must. Yumeko praises him, but she refuses the money as no one has charged her yet, confusing Ryota. She wonders if what they gave her earlier was another way to pay off her debt.

Runa snakes Mary

Runa snakes Mary.

Mary, very angry, asks Runa Yomotsuki what that plan of life was, to which she, busy playing, just replied that it was what she said. Mary reads three of the items in that notebook and claims it was horrible, asking again what it was. Runa was more specific, still not looking at her, explaining that everything that was written there would happen in real life. Runa passes the stage and reads what was written, congratulating her for being lucky as she would be a politician's wife, although she wouldn't marry him because he's a lolicon. Mary tries to refute kigurumi's however just says they didn't care if she liked the plan or not, showing her a picture of Kurataka. Mary refuses, but Runa pulls her by the chain of the housepet identification and says that if she didn't want to do what was in the plan, she should simply pay what she owed. Ryota, upon finishing reading Yumeko's plan, was surprised. Yumeko realizes that they were controlling her life through the plan, finding it very interesting how they worked.

Sayaka announces to the academy about the Settlement of Debts Solemnity. Ryota runs through the corridors with the flyer in hand until he realizes he has passed Mary, warning her about the ceremony and she agrees to participate (albeit confused by her hurried state) and he leaves right after after Yumeko. Midari Ikishima, trapped in her cell, wonders if Yumeko would be "there" – referring to the solemnity – but no one was there.

The students whispered to each other in the solemnity room until Sayaka goes to the podium and asks for silence, thanking everyone for participating and explaining how it works.

Mary doesn't like Yumeko

Mary doesn't like Yumeko.

Mary found herself disgusted with how hypocritical she was being and Yumeko comments that they were being generous, but the other claims they were just trying to control people. Finally, Mary noticed that it was Yumeko beside her and got scared, Jabami didn't mind her irritation.

Sayaka goes on to explain about the game, Indian Poker, the chips used, the form and the boards. Finally, he started announcing the groups, which Mary definitely didn't want Yumeko in her group. When Sayaka said the two were in the same group, Yumeko was happy and Mary was horrified.

A while later, the two go down the stairs together, each carrying a plaque – and Mary wonders who Orita was – and arrives at room F, where Jun, Nanami Tsubomi and Sayaka were already there, the one who welcomes they. Jun is happy to see them and greets them, to which Mary is not at all happy. Sayaka asks them to put up their plates and sit down. Jun rushed them to start the game and simply dismissed Mary when she complained, explaining that she was not an housepet but would use the solemnity to pay off a foreign debt. Yumeko notices how confident he was and teases him, but Jun isn't shaken by this, teasing them for being housepet. Mary gets angry and Yumeko tries to calm her down; the first asks Nanami for her opinion, but to her surprise, Tsubomi doesn't care. Reluctantly, she shuts up.

Sayaka reviews the rules and Ryota is seen watching the match on a television, rooting for Yumeko. Sayaka starts with the first round and each bets one token, and she then deals the cards, giving Jun the start of the betting phase. Jun, not wanting the start to be boring, bets a Kiwatari chip and Nanami calls with a Tsubomi chip. Ryota comments that they didn't need to bet too much as the value was low, but that Mary and Yumeko couldn't take any chances. Contradicting him, however, Yumeko calls with a Jabami token and Mary scolds her, but Yumeko doesn't listen, making her cross her arms in passing that round.

Jun wins the first round

Jun wins the first round.

Sayaka then asks them to reveal the cards. When Nanami and Yumeko had bad hands, Jun wins the round with a three and nine of clubs, a suited hand. For the second round, Nanami should start and she bets a Tsubomi token, while Yumeko and Mary check. Jun raises by four Kiwatari chips, making Nanami check. Jun teases them, calling them cowards, even further irritating Mary. Ryota found himself irritated with Jun.

For the third round, Yumeko should start. She says loud and clear that a good card came and bets a Jabami chip. Jun raises Kiwatari by two chips which Yumeko calls him a cheapskate and Jun even starts to answer him, but Nanami interrupts him as he passes the round, irritating him, and he keeps saying it was strategy since his chips were worth more than any other, and that's why it was important to have them. Unlike what he thought, she reacted differently, raising by three Jabami chips. Mary, Jun and Ryota were surprised by her madness. Still, Jun chuckled and called her interested, calling with two Kiwatari chips to match Yumeko's.

Sayaka asks them to show their hands and Jun confidently shows his hand in a two and five diamond suit, already claiming victory. However, Yumeko shows her hand ten and four of hearts, celebrating her own victory, high-five with Mary, Jun (unwillingly) and tries to do it with Nanami, but Nanami ignores her. Ryota, in his room, also celebrates.

For the fourth round, Mary should start. She started to review her current status and bet a Saotome token, Jun calls with a Kiwatari token, Nanami checks and Yumeko calls with a Kiwatari token. Sayaka asks what she would do and Mary started to think that she would have to follow the plan of life if she didn't do anything, standing up – and scaring Nanami and intriguing Jun – and wondering who the hell Orita was. Immediately thereafter, he raises by three Saotome chips.

Mary deceives Jun

Mary deceives Jun.

Jun calls her an idiot and pretends to call with his chips, but just says he was joking. They call them predictable, suggesting that both Mary and Yumeko were in collusion, explaining Yumeko's odd behavior in the last round and theorizing that Mary knew she had a good card because of her to have raised her bet that much, passing right away, to the dismay of Ryota who watched. Mary sat down after the announcement of her victory and proceeded to sniffle, but then laugh, confusing him. She then shows her rotten hand, calling him an idiot.

Character appearances[]

Differences between Manga & Live Action[]

  • Mary and Sayaka's opening scene is completely exclusive to live action.
  • Instead of having the scene where one of Jun's friends (or Jun himself, in the case of the anime) call Yumeko, it starts with the three of them gathered outside.
  • Unlike the manga and anime, who saves Yumeko from Jun is Ryota, not Midari.
  • It's also only after Jun leaves that Yumeko talks about her life plan.
  • Where Kurataka Orita is only quoted in both the manga and the anime, Runa shows Mary a picture of him.
  • When Ryota didn't seem to be aware that Mary and Yumeko would be betting on Solemnity in the manga and anime, in live action, he is the one who talks about it to Mary and Yumeko, and even watches her match on a monitor in a corner of the hallway.
  • In the manga and anime, Sayaka announces Group F in that order: Jun, Nanami, Yumeko and Mary. In live action, the order is: Mary, Yumeko.
  • Yumeko's celebration of her third-round victory is exclusive to live action.
  • Mary's monologue is longer in manga and anime than in live action.

Trivia[]

  • To which Yumeko denies Jun and his friend making an "X" with her fingers, it is implied that her type is Ryota's because she makes an "ok" symbol with her hands when he tries to help her, right after driving them away.
