Kyuu Nitobe is a character introduced in the second season of and exclusive to the Kakegurui drama. He's played by Akira Onodera.
Appearance[]
He has short, curly brown hair and uses glasses. He keeps his blazer open and wears a grey sweater under it.
Personality[]
Kyuu works in the Journalism club and is apparently always looking for a new scoop. He seems to be very curious and somewhat nosy. In spite of his young age, he seems an old-fashioned guy.
Drama[]
Kyuu being approached by Kirari
Kyuu is introduced in the first episode of Season two as he's being reprimanded by Sayaka for his latest articles. He seems to have an interest in reporting about Yumeko's gambles against Student Council members, a fact that bothers Sayaka greatly. He ignores her claims that Yuriko Nishinotouin won and asks her if it's true that the Council is in debt, something he apparently learned by interviewing Midari Ikishima.
Suddenly, Kirari interrupts them and challenges Kyuu to a gamble, placing a pen on Yumeko's photograph vertically. If the pen falls towards her, she wins; if it falls towards Kyuu, he wins instead. He nervously asks if he will be able to write anything he wants and she confirms it. However, the pen falls towards Kirari.
When he later walks around, he witnesses Jueri and her group of Villagers rescuing a housepet from harassment. He then also observes the gamble between Kaede and Yumeko. When Kirari reveals herself, he is very shocked. As soon as the match is over, he rushes out, eager to write about the result.
Etymology[]
- The name Kyuu means, “nine” (九).
- Kyuu's surname Nitobe means “fresh, new“ (新) (ni), “somewhat, easily, readily, rather“ (渡) (to) and “Japanese door“ (戸) (be).
