If I want to keep Yumeko-chan safe, I won't lose to anybody in this world!

Souko Jabami to herself

The Bite-Back Girl is the 101st chapter of Kakegurui, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Toru Naomura.

Summary[]

Souko defeats Tsugiko in the first three rounds of the dice game by rolling a Snake Eyes thrice in a row. When Souko thinks she’s won, Tsugiko reveals that she gained a massive amount of cash from selling the Snake-Eye stone to Kirari. According to the rules, the game isn't over yet. Now, Souko must roll ten Snake Eyes in a row to win. One loss will cost her the game and Yumeko. She can’t manipulate the rolls anymore because she lost focus. Kabura enjoys Souko's despair.

Plot[]

Kabura is amazed by Souko being able to manipulate the non-loaded dice rolls. She also notices that Souko isn't showing any sign of stress. Kirari declares Souko the first-round winner. She now has two million while Tsugiko has six. Both players go all in. Tsugiko rolls three and four. Resolved to keep Yumeko safe, Souko rolls Snake Eyes. The fact that she made this roll twice in a row impressed Kabura.

Round three begins and both sides are even with 4 million yen. Tsugiko roll two 2's. Souko gets another Snake Eyes. Kabura goes to cheer her up. Yumeko is happy. Since she lost the game, Tsugiko has to reveal who murdered her sister and brother-in-law. Tsugiko becomes anxious. Before answering, she asks if Souko will banish her. Souko responds that she'd never do that since they're family and cries. Tsugiko believes that her niece is a kind girl, too kind to be a Jabami.

She reminds Souko that she used to show her this trick a lot to manipulate the rolls when she was a kid. Tsugiko knew all along about Souko cheating. The trick isn't difficult, it just requires focus and a strong will. When she thought she had won and showed pity to her opponent, Souko lost focus. Tsugiko is certain that Souko now can't manipulate the rolls. Kabura reminds Tsugiko that Souko still won the game. In response, Tsugiko reveals that she has 8,184,000,000 yen in cash.

According to the rules, whoever can't come up with any more money loses. This means that the game isn't over yet. Tsugiko declares that Souko didn't win, and this gamble just began. Souko is shocked and concludes that Tsugiko sold the Snake-Eye Stone to receive all this cash. Tsugiko didn't know that Souko knew about the stone. Souko can't believe Tsugiko found all this money so quickly even if she sold the Snake-Eye Stone. She anxiously turns to Kirari. Kirari implies that she bought it. She explains that it’s a lot more fun this way.

Kirari tells Souko not to worry, as she'll have Tsugiko buy the stone right back if she wins the game. Tsugiko tells Souko there is nothing to worry about because all she needs to do is roll ten Snake Eyes in a row to win. Souko knows that a single mistake will cost her the game and Yumeko. Kabura sees the despair on Souko's face and enjoys it.
