I think a "winner" is different for everyone. It varies depending on who you want to be. And if so, then a "winner" to me is someone who can reach out to a person in trouble.

Tsuzura Hanatemari to Mary Saotome and Yukimi Togakushi

The Chosen Girl is the 64th chapter of Kakegurui Twin, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Kei Saiki.

Summary[]

Tsuzura reveals to Mary the situation she’s in. They go to the Literary Club’s den. Yua and Yukimi are there. Mary brings Yukimi to talk privately. Yukimi is shocked when hearing the news of Tsuzura’s gamble for Nadeshiko with stakes that can reach 9 million yen. Tsuzura now believes a winner is someone who can reach out to a person in trouble. The members head back to the Literary Club and ask Yua about the other middle schoolers. Yua answers that she doesn’t know them and they’re in different classes. However, She knows that they're very strong because both Yua and Shougou became housepets at some point and made it out with their own abilities.

Kaede, Yua, Shougou, and Literary Club members show up for the match. Mikoto decides that they’ll play Blackjack. She goes over the basic rules. The strongest possible hand is a natural blackjack which comprises an ace and a 10. One chip has a value of 100,000 yen. Tsuzura agrees to play. Yukimi picks a deck of cards and Kaede is the dealer. The match begins.

Plot[]

Mary is concerned for Tsuzura because she hasn’t eaten at all. Tsuzura reveals the situation she’s in. They go back to the Literary Club’s den. Yua and Yukimi are there. Mary brings Yukimi to talk privately. Yukimi is shocked when hearing the news of Tsuzura’s gamble for Nadeshiko with stakes that can reach 9 million yen.

Tsuzura has been rethinking what it means to be a winner. Her personal definition of a winner is someone who can reach out to a person in trouble. Yukimi is angry at Mary for not stopping her. Mary responds that it’s her choice. She warns Tsuzura that she has to win if she’ll go ahead with this gamble.

The members head back to the Literary Club and ask Yua about the other middle schoolers. Yua answers that she doesn’t know them and they’re in different classes. She points out that they must be very strong. The middle school tries to replicate the housepet system, but it isn’t to the same extent as the high school’s.

Both Yua and Shougou became housepets at some point. However, they made it out simply with their own abilities. Mary says that Tsuzura also managed to get freedom, which almost never happens, and says that she’s thus even with them. Yua smirks.

Kaede, Yua, Shougou, and Literary Club members show up for the match. Mikoto mocks Tsuzura for risking 9 million for someone else. She decides that they’ll play Blackjack. The premise of Blackjack is to get a hand value that is closer to 21 than the other player’s, without going over this number.

The game starts with a dealing round, a betting round, then a showdown. During the dealing round, the dealer gives each player two cards. If a player hits, they get another card which is dealt to them facedown. If a player stands, they won’t get any more cards. When both players stood, the betting round begins.

Participants can bet, raise, call, or fold. If neither side folds, a showdown determines the winner: the player closer to 21 without getting over 21. Jacks, Queens, and Kings all count as 10. Aces count as 1 or 11 depending on which is better for the player. Hands that go over 21 can’t win the game. The strongest possible hand is a natural blackjack which comprises an ace and a 10. One chip has a value of 100,000 yen.

Tsuzura agrees to play. Yukimi picks a deck of cards and Yua is the dealer. Yukimi protests about Yua being selected, in vain. Mary then steps in to contest that decision. She doesn’t trust Yua and accuses the three middle schoolers of collaborating together. Understanding the high schoolers’ concerns, Shougou has Kaede be the dealer. As an anti-cheat measure, he demands that Kaede cuts and deals with one hand. The match begins.
