The Dazzling Girl is the 82nd chapter of Kakegurui, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Toru Naomura.
Summary[]
Terano left the room with Yumi because she was called by Kirari. Yumeko explains to Nanami that she had lied to her to protect herself. Yumeko knew that the NPCs had to defeat Terano or her. She asked Nanami why she chose to attack her. Nanami explained that she felt like there were more chances of Terano playing safe by protecting herself than Yumeko lying to her. Yumeko had the same thought process. She calls Nanami a full-fledged gambler. Nanami remembered that she wanted to take on this gamble for self-confidence.
Kirari was the person rolling the dice for the players of Fasciation Hall. Kirari asks Terano for an explanation on why she hadn’t used NPCs and Yumi as pawns. Kirari and Terano had a disagreement on whether or not they should look down on the weak. Kirari points out how Terano’s mindset of not looking down on them has put her in a do-or-die situation. Terano thinks about the orphans she grew up with and tells Kirari that she’s an idiot. She then goes out with Yumi to resume the game.
Yumeko tells Ryota that they’re enemies from now on since she believes that a three sides battle is better than a two-on-one. Ryota still planned on helping Yumeko, but she reminds him that the winner will receive an amount of votes that has a value of 8.112 billion yen, and adds that it’s worth betraying a friend over. Yumi notices that Yumeko is having fun and Terano admits to herself that she’s jealous of Yumeko. After the players received their points, they all had a showdown. Yumeko won with twelve, Terano had eleven, and Ryota had one.
Plot[]
Terano left the room with Yumi because she was called by Kirari. Meanwhile, Nanami asks Yumeko why she lied to her[1]. Yumeko answers that it was to protect herself from her. Yumeko learns Ryota that all the NPCs were ordered to defeat Yumeko or Terano. Yumeko knew that Nanami couldn’t be passive during the fifth turn. She adds that if she failed to hunt down Terano, all of Nanami’s efforts making it this far would go to waste. This led Yumeko to wonder who would Nanami attack between Terano and her.
Nanami explained that she thought Terano had thirteen and that Yumeko said she would donate all of her points to Ryota. Nanami felt like there were more chances of Terano playing safe than Yumeko lying to her. Nanami starts downplaying herself. Yumeko tells her that she was correct and that chewing over every aspect of the bet is the fun in gambling. Yumeko then admits that she thought the exact same thing as Nanami, and tells Nanami that she is a full-fledged gambler. This makes Nanami cry. She remembers Terano asking her what she wants from this gamble. She wanted self-confidence.
Kirari was the person rolling the dice for the players of Fasciation Hall. Kirari asks Terano for an explanation on what she’s doing. Terano hadn’t used cornered, helpless people as pawns. Terano had made sure all the NPCs had winning chances as they played. She asks Terano why she fights while protecting a crowd of fools. Terano answers that those are the words from someone who has never wondered if she’s a fool. Terano asks Kirari not to look down on the NPCs and Yumi. Kirari points out how that mindset has put Terano in a do-or-die situation. Kirari believes that fools should be looked down on and that the weak deserve to be exploited. She tries to convince Terano that it’s okay to do so.
Terano thinks about the orphans she grew up with and tells Kirari that she’s an idiot. Terano and Yumi go back. Yumeko tells Ryota that they’re now enemies. She believes that a three sides battle is better than a two-on-one. Ryota still plans on helping Yumeko. Yumeko reminds Ryota that the winner will receive an amount of votes that has a value of 8.112 billion yen, and adds that it’s worth betraying a friend over. Yumi notices that Yumeko is having fun. Terano admits to herself that she’s jealous of Yumeko. She doesn’t have Yumeko’s freedom, and her devotion to her desires. Yumi encourages Terano.
Terano receives eleven points. All of the remaining players have a showdown. Yumeko wins with twelve, Terano had eleven, and Ryota had one. Yumi apologizes to Terano, blaming herself and saying she’s an idiot. Terano knows that Yumi is an idiot, but she loves her all the same. Yumi hugs Terano.
