The Decisive Girl is the sixth chapter of the first volume of Kakegurui Twin written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Saiki Kei.
Plot[]
Sachiko Juraku announces that that table would be untouched for round two even though the standard procedure would be to switch members, surprising them. Chitose Inui tried to argue that it didn't make sense for the same participants if five couples were already made. Sachiko just claimed it was fun to see them suffer, yet it wouldn't stop them from leaving, since they would just have to fill the empty seats with other people, taunting Mary Saotome. Mikura Sado announces that everyone will have ten minutes to decide and Sachiko comments that she would accept if it were her, since, if she refused, she would be an animal for sure, advising her to think carefully during those ten minutes.
As Sachiko walked away, Mary mentally admitted that she was right as she had lost the money she'd earned from Aoi Mibuomi and the Student Guild pay deadline was approaching, if she didn't win that round, she'd become an animal, which she thought it would be worse if Sachiko wasn't planning this, as it would mean that Tsuzura Hanatemari was cheating on her. Not considering that the formation of five couples had been a mere coincidence, a spy told the boys who would confess to whom, but even though the exchange of targets was only between Mary and Tsuzura, the boys still won, further reinforcing that she was the traitor.
Pushing her out of her thoughts, Tsuzura calls her and asks her if she would participate in the second round and Mary cuts her off, saying she was thinking, but Tsuzura keeps saying they should bet because they don't have more money, offering to sign them up and asking the what the rest would do. Mary interrupts her and Tsuzura tries to apologize, but she and Yukimi are surprised when Saotome says it would not be participating in the second round. Yukimi questions her and Mary replies that she would only borrow money from her parents to pay her fees. Again, Yukimi tries to convince her, but Mary doesn't agree. Tsuzura reminds her of the promise they made, but the blonde says for the two to stop trusting her that way since they could pay the fees without any problems, if they needed to depend that much on someone, just talk to Kanade Musubi.
Chitose and Kurumi Kurume watched, the first afflicted and the second amused, and Tsuzura began to cry, confusing Mary. She questioned her about her giving up on the game, being consoled by Yukimi. Kurumi teased Mary, who was lost in her thoughts until she remembered what Sachiko had told her and seemed to ponder it for a second. Yukimi interrupted her and asked her what she would do since there was about five minutes left until the end of the "break". Mary appeared to come back to reality and says that Tsuzura was right, so she would be participating in the second round. She thanked Tsuzura for "opening her eyes" and she perks up a little, however, Mary glares at her and claims she wouldn't miss it just because someone like her stabbed her in the back, that it would teach her a lesson next time, shocking her. As Yukimi tried to calm the situation,
Mary asks the three (Chitose, Kurumi and Yukimi) to join them. Kurumi readily accepts, but Chitose doesn't seem to want to accept at first. Mary teases her, saying that she can leave if she wanted, but she would lose the victory they would have in this round. When Inui didn't seem to understand, the other asked them to follow her as she would explain, but ordered Tsuzura to stay out of it, receiving protests from Yukimi.
Once separated, Mary says they would each confess to a different boy. Kurumi questions and Mary replies that the strategy would work better without Tsuzura to denounce her targets. Chitose asks if Tsuzura wouldn't take advantage of the rule that if a couple is made, girls who confessed to the same boy would lose, but Mary explains that they could win anyway. Yukimi disagrees because she wouldn't risk having to spend the night with some random guy, apologizing that she would have to find someone else.
Mary regrets that she left, but convinces her by talking about the club room, asking if she didn't care for that room. Anyway, I told her to take the risk for what she wants because bets were all about that. Mary takes a notebook and writes something in it, tearing off the paper and claiming that she would hand over ownership of the room back to her so she would have the room even if they lost the game. Yukimi, not seeing an option, decided that he would participate. Chitose and Kurumi also agree to participate.
Mary asks Chitose about the confession order papers and she takes a reserve she had. Saotome takes the paper from Chitose's hand and says to leave the order with her because she had an idea. The confessions would be as follows: Chitose to Nobuya, Kurumi to Ren, Yukimi to Kanade and Mary to Mamoru, to which Tsuzura's target is unknown. Yukimi notices that she would confess to Kanade again and Chitose asks why they would go with that and the blonde doesn't talk, saying she couldn't tell her. Kurumi mentally realizes Mary's plan because she didn't trust any of them either, that's why he took the fifth position, the safest, entertaining herself with her.
The presenter announces that there were three minutes to the closing of registration. Haruto Kibashira asks if Kanade would participate but he replied that he wouldn't, since he knew Tsuzura wouldn't confess to him anyway. He's even sadder when he assumes that Yukimi wouldn't like the time eating with him, still pointing out that the same "trick" wouldn't work twice. Haruto, a little disconcerted, agrees, but Ren Kochi pulls him along, asking him what he was doing if they could win that round too and shouldn't stop at the price of three hundred and thirty thousand yen. He goes on to say that even if they lost, Kanade could cover for them, claiming he needed to convince him.
Haruto replies that he didn't know what to say to him. Suddenly, Mamoru Kuonji says they had good news. Nobuya Sera calls Kanade, saying he knew who would confess to whom in the next round, surprising the three. Ren asked how he knew and Nobuya replied that they were arguing about their best choices. Haruto tried to convince him to participate again, but Kanade said he didn't need the money at that point. Nobuya then blurted out that apparently Yukimi would use the "slumber party" bonus and confess to Kanade. Kanade doesn't seem to believe it and is convinced by Haruto and Ren to participate in the next round. Ren comments that he just lacked the confidence coming from the experience and so Kanade announces that he would participate.
The presenter announces the end of time and asks everyone to sit in their chairs. The two groups did so and stared at each other, some apprehensively. Tsuzura tries to call Mary, but she cuts her off, saying that she didn't want to talk to her and she could do whatever she wants, making her apologize. The presenter reminds everyone that it was the last chance. Mary thinks she did everything she could. Thus, the start of the round was announced.
