Summary[]
This chapter is set in the past. Souko goes to Hyakkaou Private Academy as a 1st year student in Hana class. The dealer is looking for people to bet on odd in a Chō-Han game. Souko comes and bets one million yen on odd, shocking students. Souko explains that the more she gambles, the more fun it becomes for her. The dice add up to seven, so the roll is odd. Souko wins. She later sits on school stairs with the money she has left, relieved. Kabura approaches her. She introduces herself to Souko. She’s part of the The Hundred Devouring Families too. Kabura is also a first year student in the Sasanqua group.
Kabura then talks about Souko’s gamble. She explains that the dealer of the Chō-Han game can manipulate what comes up, and knows that Souko used that to her advantage. Kabura points out that the house would end up making more money if they let Souko win. She praises Souko for manipulating the house into letting her win, especially since she’s poor and still bet a million yen.
Kabura believes that Souko went to Hyakkaou for the sake of her family. Kabura explains that it’s the same deal for her. The Momobami Clan members are trying to get their hands on Hyakkaou Academy. Kabura was sent here as a spy. She finds it awful, as she wanted to do other stuff. Kabura suggests they get along as two girls whose family took away their freedom. Souko accepts. Kabura suggests they watch each other’s backs.
Plot[]
This chapter is set in the past. Before going to school, Yumeko and Souko’s auntie reminds them that they’re the heirs to the Jabami family, and such, they must always act the part. Souko goes to Hyakkaou Private Academy as a 1st year student in Hana class. Students are playing Chō-Han. The dealer is looking for people to bet on odd. Souko comes and bets one million yen on odd. Students are shocked by her betting all of this money.
A boy says that Souko is out of her mind. Souko explains that the more she gambles, the more fun it becomes for her. People that bet on the even side realize that they’re in trouble if they lose. The dice land on three and four, so the roll is odd. Souko wins. She later sits on school stairs with the money she has left, relieved. Kabura approaches her.
She tells Souko that she’s crazy for betting a million yen out of nowhere. Souko admits that she doesn’t know her. Kabura points out that the Jabamis rarely show up for family reunions. She introduces herself to Souko. Kabura is a first year student in the Sasanqua group. She’s part of the The Hundred Devouring Families
Kabura asks Souko if she came to this school for money. She has heard that since Souko’s parents died, the Jabami family’s finances have been doing badly. Souko denies that she came here for money. Kabura explains that the dealer of the Chō-Han game can manipulate what comes up, and knows that Souko used that to her advantage. Summary[]
Souko tells her family that she has made a new friend: Kabura Tsuibami. Her aunt wonders about the Tsuibami name. She asks Souko to mind her manners with her, as a bad reputation can spread fast in the Momobami family. Her auntie also points out that Souko has been doing well in gambling lately. Souko thought she’d fail, but the opposite happened.
Yumeko doesn’t know what gambling is yet. The Jabami aunt congrats her niece for her gambling talent. She believes she should’ve never let Souko attend Hyakkaou Academy. Souko is shocked. The Jabami aunt tells her nieces that she will reveal to both of them the accursed bloodline of the Jabami family.
