The Entangled Girl is the 74th chapter of Kakegurui, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Toru Naomura.

Summary

Yumeko won the showdown of the fourth round. Mary and her both have 250 votes. Mary thinks she got Yumeko’s true motives. Every student is watching their game, so some people must be making huge side bets. Those people will earn tons of votes with no risk if a winner is decided. So, they’re going to work together. The fifth round begins. Terano says that it looks like fate is on her side. Since the game's deck was never changed, it's easy to know which cards are remaining. She concludes that a draw is mathematically impossible. Rin calculates that only one card should be left in the deck, but that there is not a single card left in it. Terano passes out. The showdown begins with paper against paper.

Plot

Ryota says that Yumeko aiming to tie Mary’s vote count by betting 108 votes is clearly a bad move. Ririka tells him that Yumeko is wagering against someone who’s not at the table. There is a tie on the head cards, but Yumeko had a paper five of a kind and Mary had a one pair of it. So, Yumeko wins the showdown. They’re now tied in votes.

Terano wonders how Mary feels facing off against the girl she wants to defeat more than anyone, and she’s not even worried about her. She knows that it hurts, and believes that all Mary needs to do is win.

Ririka feels terrible for Mary because Yumeko is paying a lot of attention to someone who’s not even in the room. Yumeko doesn’t even look at Mary, who was looking forward to this competition. Ryota says that it doesn’t even look like Mary is hurt.

Mary thinks she got Yumeko’s true motives. Every student is watching their game, so some people must be making huge side bets. Mary was worried that Yumeko didn't even care about her. Yumeko was actually respecting her this whole time.

Terano says that she knows every card in Yumeko's hand and that there are only two possible decks that Mary can have. She concludes that a draw is mathematically impossible and that Mary will win if she plays rock. If she plays paper, Yumeko will win. Mary doesn’t have any scissors. Terano believes that the game is decided.

Rin points out that the turn started with fourteen cards left. Ten cards were passed by the dealer, then there were three new cards passed from the exchanges. So only one card should be left in the deck. Rock or paper. Terano knows this and says it won't affect the results. Rin makes Terano notice that there is not a single card left in the deck. Terano passes out. The showdown begins with paper against paper.
