I've got nothing to counter that with. It's because she really is playing honestly, no doubt. There's nothing wrong with anything she's saying... but... I thought I had won this! She, alone, found her treasure chest so much faster than the three of us combined. If I have to gamble with this woman one more time, can I really beat her?

Mary Saotome to herself about Sakura Miharutaki

The Exposing Girls is the twelfth chapter of Kakegurui Twin, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Kei Saiki.

Summary[]

Mikura asks Sachiko about who’s going to win. Sachiko mentions that Sakura is the clear favorite, but Mary has a chance to win depending on her tenacity, desire to win, and friends.

Meanwhile, Tsuzura believes she knows the location of a treasure, but then doubts herself. Mary convinces her to share her theory. Tsuzura explains it and they realize the map is the numerical notation of a song called "Spring Has Come". The girls discover a mistake in the musical score, which indicates the treasure's location.

Later, Sakura complains to Sachiko. She has a locked chest. She believes her map is different from her opponent’s and she must use their keys to win. Mary arrives with her treasure chest and accuses Sakura of cheating. Sakura explains her strategy and denies cheating. Her arguments are sound, and Mary can’t debunk any. She is doubtful about whether or not she can defeat Sakura in gambling.

Plot[]

Mikura asks Sachiko who will win. She responds that normally, someone would bet on Sakura since she's the Beautification Committee chair and a Full-Bloom councilor. Sachiko adds that Mary's only chance of winning is her tenacity, desire to win, and her friends' presence.

Meanwhile, Tsuzura believes she knows the treasure's location. Yukimi is happy and thinks they'll now win. Tsuzura then apologizes, thinking she's got it wrong. Mary then convinces her to reveal what she has in mind. Yukimi had said that the hints are three different songs part of the common elementary school songbook. Tsuzura thinks the map might also be a song. She explains they can read this map like a music sheet with numbered musical notation. The numbers one to seven would represent the notes "do" to "ti".

She goes on to explain further how to read the map. Yukimi sings the map and recognizes the song "Spring Has Come", which Tsuzura also recognized earlier. Tsuzura knew about it since she always played for her class during chorus class in elementary school. Yukimi thinks she's found out the meaning of "Spring Has Come" behind on the map. There is a mistake in the score. One number doesn’t belong, and it indicates the treasure’s location. Mary had thought of something completely different, but she decides to go along with this direction.

Sakura is currently with Sachiko and Mikura. She's angry because all she could find was a treasure chest with a padlock and key attached to it. It's attached in a way so she can't take off the key. Sakura realizes now that Sachiko didn't say she gave both of them the same map. She believes she has to use her opponents' key to unlock her own chest. Sakura finally says that the competition only begins now and the Treasure Hunt was a joke. Mary walks in with her treasure chest in hand and her friends. The trio is shocked. Mary accuses Sakura of cheating. She can't believe Sakura found the chest quicker than the three of them by herself. Sakura shows her map.

Sakura explains that she's searched three rooms. In rooms represented by numbers 5, 2, and 1, she's respectively found songs that are listed for fifth, second, and first grades in the common elementary school songbook. So a song's school grade matches the room's number. She supposes that rooms with two numbers such as "34", have two hints hidden in them. Sakura thus looked up room 7, which is the only room on the map with a grade above elementary school in Japan.

After Sakura found the chest, she realized that the map was the score for "Spring has come". Sakura explains that the Literary Club members have simply approached the problem differently if they've solved it slower than her. She swears that she hasn't cheated. Mary, Tsuzura, and Yukimi are astounded. Sakura then asks what she could have done to cheat. Only Sachiko could help someone cheat. Sakura says that she'd have been more direct if she cheated with Sachiko. There was no point in doing a whole treasure hunt. Mary has nothing to counter Sakura's debunk. She thought she had won, but was wrong. Mary is doubtful about whether or not she can defeat Sakura in gambling.
