The Foolish Girl is the 27th chapter of Kakegurui Twin, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Kei Saiki.
Summary[]
Ouri guessed the right rule at the end of round 8. Ouri ranks first with 40 points, Mary is second with 30 points, Naoko and Houko are tied at third with 26 points and Mikura is last with 24 points. Naoko couldn't believe her eyes because they had never used these signs before. Ouri informs them that she has researched everything she could about them. Aoi provided her the people and tools she needed: Shadowing, wiretapping, secret taping, interviews, dumpster diving, etc. Ouri declares she knows the siblings' signs better than them.
Round 9 begins and Ouri is the dealer. She explains that since she's in first place, ten points ahead of Mary, who's second, chances are the game will end with her being far ahead in the lead. She tells the players what she'll do with her housepets, worrying the Ougatou sisters. Ouri planned on punishing the traitors while protesting against the housepet system. Naoko and Houko plan on revealing as soon as possible. Ouri gives the players a hint. They narrow the rules down to two possibilities: Any club or even clubs. Mikura and the sisters hesitate to reveal, as they have 50% chances of being wrong and they can only reveal once. If someone gets the rule wrong, everyone else will know the answer.
As Houko is about to reveal, Mary tells her to wait. She asks Houko if she has any pride. Mary adds that nobody is going to follow someone who's just going to put their head down and beg that easily, someone who is a housepet by nature. Mary has a plan to make them get "the last laugh" despite it being impossible to make Ouri lose. Mary explains that Ouri gave them that hint because she wanted them to reveal. That's why Ouri picked such an easy rule. Ouri fears that nobody reveals the rule, making her lose ten points. Mary thus asks everyone not to reveal. Ouri tells Houko that she'll be saved if she reveals now. Mary states that she won't let anyone become a housepet.
Naoko tells Mary that they've got to lead the Full-Bloom society and take control of the school and they can't sit here and let someone mess with them like this. Houko approves. Ouri can't believe this turn of events. She thinks that this is so illogical. Mary tells Ouri that she went too far in underestimating them. She adds that Ouri made them all united under the same cause. That cause is to "kill" her.
Ouri tries to figure out why is everyone trusting Mary. Ten turns had passed with no reveals. Ouri thus lost ten points. After round 9, Mary is first with 32 points, Ouri is second with 30 points, Naoko and Houko are tied at third with 28 points, and Mikura is last with 26 points.
Plot[]
Ouri guessed the right rule.
Rank | Character | Points |
---|---|---|
1 | Ouri | 40 |
2 | Mary | 30 |
3 | Houko | 26 |
Naoko | 26 | |
5 | Mikura | 24 |
Ouri then says that she’s never going to lose to idiots like them. Naoko couldn't believe her eyes. The sisters had never used these signs before. Ouri reminds the siblings that they realized that a good amount of first-timers showed up because of her. She then informs them she also has researched everything she could about them. Aoi provided Ouri the people and the tools she needed: Shadowing, wiretapping, secret taping, interviews, dumpster diving, etc. Ouri declares she knows Naoko and Houko's signs better than them. She tells the sisters they could have been more careful.
Round 9[]
Ouri was the dealer. She plays a legal two of clubs. Ouri then explains that since she's in first place, ten points ahead of Mary, who is second, chances are the game will end with her being far ahead in the lead. She says that when she'll get housepets, she'll order them to stand by the school gate every day and greet every student who passes by while holding signs with "I am a mittens" and "Use me any way you want" written on them. The Ougatou siblings are worried.
Ouri adds that seeing them break down, day after day, she's sure the students will regret their actions and get to see how terrible bullying really is. Ouri adds that she'll be punishing the traitors while protesting against the housepet system. She then coldly suggests the players to reveal. Houko and Naoko realize that Ouri is toying with them. Getting ten points would get a player in the safe zone. The Ougatou siblings conclude they need to reveal as soon as possible.
Ouri gives the players a hint: The rule card is composed of one suit and a single rule. Mikura narrows down the options to two rules: Any club or even clubs. Mikura and the sisters hesitate to reveal, as they have 50% chances of being wrong and they can only reveal once. If someone gets it wrong, everyone else will know the answer. As Houko is about to reveal, Mary tells her to wait. She asks Houko if she has any pride. Mary adds that nobody is going to follow someone who's just going to put their head down and beg that easily, someone who is a housepet by nature. Naoko asks what's the point if they become housepets. Mary answers that she's already losing the moment she thinks that. As Houko is protesting, Mary says that despite it being impossible to make Ouri lose, they can get "the last laugh."
Mary explains that Ouri gave them that hint because she wanted them to reveal. That's why Ouri picked such an easy rule. Ouri fears that nobody reveals the rule, making her lose ten points. Mary asks everyone not to reveal. Ouri, anxious, says that Mary's queen of clubs is legal. As Houko's turn arrives, Ouri asks her if she's falling for that nonsense. She tells Houko that she'll be saved if she reveals now. Mary says that it's not true. She states that she won't let anyone become a housepet. Ouri says there is no way to defeat her.
Naoko plays a four of clubs, but it's not her turn. Naoko tells Mary that they've got to lead the Full-Bloom society and take control of the school and they can't sit here and let someone mess with them like this. Houko approves and plays a legal eight of clubs. Mikura then plays ten of clubs, which is also legal.
