The Girl is the seventieth chapter of Kakegurui written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Toru Naomura.

Summary

This chapter recaps the full history of Mary Saotome's urge to beat Yumeko Jabami all while slowly becoming friends with her along the way.

Plot

In a flashback, Mary Saotome is finding out that there's going to be a new transfer student joining their class. Mary tells her friends that all she's going to do is put her in a little debt. Mary ends up being put in debt. She tries to crawl her way back up by taking on Yuriko Nishinotouin in Life or Death in an official match. She loses that as well, but never gives up. She eventually comes back after winning the Debt Settlement Party with Yumeko Jabami. Slowly, she becomes friends with Yumeko. And it's all come to this, the final match of the Grand Tournament. Mary is determined to beat Yumeko and put herself back on top!
