The Girl They Battle Over (Part 2) is the 41st chapter of Kakegurui Twin, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Kei Saiki.
Summary[]
Yukimi told Mary that Nagi came in first. Things went well, as he only won sometimes. However, that changed when Soutarou came in. They went on a long winning streak. Nearly every game was won by one of those two. Tsuzura thought yesterday's strategy would keep them winning today too. Mary figured out that the strategy is to always call doubt if someone announces a better roll than six-one. There is a 50% chance that someone rolls weaker than six-one. Nagi and Soutarou must have realized this.
The game begins with Mary, Tsuzura, Nagi, and Soutarou. Mary announces six-one. Tsuzura says that she rolled six-two. Nagi doesn't believe her. He calls doubt and is right. After a couple of rolls, Nagi announces four-two. Soutarou says that he got five-one. Mary calls doubt despite the odds. She's right. Nagi asks her why she doubted here. Mary doesn't explain to him. She called doubt because Soutarou announced five-one, which is only two rolls stronger than four-two. She believes that this reveals a lot about Soutarou's thought process. Soutarou had to lie about his roll, he was scared that Mary would call doubt if he announced too strong a roll. He knew that announcing a roll stronger by one point would be fishy. Mary and Nagi keep playing until Nagi says that he got five-one, and Mary then announces that she got three-three.
That's the sixth best roll possible. Nagi has no idea whether Mary is lying or not. He doesn't call doubt. Nagi rolls and announces a Little Max: two-one. Tsuzura and Yukimi are shocked. Since a Little Max is the strongest possible roll, Mary has to call doubt. The payout for a win is ten thousand. Nagi suggests they bet 3 million yen on his roll. Mary calls him an idiot. She refuses to bet that much on that. She doesn't think Nagi would have made this offer in the first place if he didn't roll two-one. Nagi gives her ten thousand and says he'd have freaked out if Mary took the offer. Nagi tells Mary that he can see why Aoi likes her so much now. He leaves the room with Soutarou.
Mary tells Tsuzura and Yukimi that they were here to evaluate her. Tsuzura doubts that they would risk 3 million to evaluate Mary. Mary doesn't think they would either and asks them to check inside the cup. She believes Nagi really rolled a Little Max. Tsuzura and Yukimi check the cup, and it's empty. Nagi took the dice out of the cup.
