The Girl Who Bested Kirari Momobami is the 108th chapter of Kakegurui, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Toru Naomura.
Summary[]
Karen can’t defeat any other student council member.
Yukihime meets the new student council. She explains what the Hyakkaou Academy Guardians Society is. It contains esteemed alumni; and serves as a gathering place for many prominent figures in politics and finances. Its roles are to promote networking among alumni, which serve as guardians for the student body.
300 billion yen of funds from the society have been misappropriated by Kirari. So she must be eliminated. This amount can’t be brushed off with only a single life lost. The position of student council president must be abolished, as the title itself has paved the way for Kirari's wrongdoings. The problem is that a rule change needs to be approved by the president first. Yukihime reveals the deal they’ve made. The position will be abolished if the Guardians Society wins a seven vs seven match against the new student council. The student council will embark on a gambling cruise.
Plot[]
Yumeko plays Bōzu Mekuri for the first time. Her opponent, Karen, chose the game. Yumeko is crushing her despite not having inexperience with this game. Karen is having a mental breakdown, as she can’t defeat any other student council member. She says they’re way too good for her. Rin responds that it’s the other way around. Ryota suggests that Yumeko stops, but she explains that she's forging friendships with the other student council members.
Yumeko asks for someone else to gamble with. Everyone refuses. Karen tells Yumeko that she’s really strong, 'as expected from the person who bested Kirari'. Yumeko denies that she has and explains that they haven’t even started their battle yet.
Ririka repeats that Kirari has been abducted. Before she can explain anything, Kabura and Yukihime enter the room. Kabura recognizes Rin, Terano and Yumeko. Ryota can’t figure out what emotion is showing on Yumeko’s face as she’s staring at Kabura. Kaede asks the newcomers for an explanation. Kabura introduces herself as an intermediary.
Yukihime is from the third-year Hana class. Kaede has never heard of her before. She explains what the Hyakkaou Academy Guardians Society is. In Hyakkaou, this group contains esteemed alumni; and serves as a gathering place for many prominent figures in politics and finances. Its role is to promote interaction among alumni. Alumni serve as guardians for the student body.
300 billion yen of funds from the society have been misappropriated by Kirari. It’s considered as an act of hostility toward the academy, and thus, toward the students. Therefore, the society has decided to ‘eliminate’ Kirari. According to it, this amount can’t be brushed off with only a single life lost. The position of student council president must be abolished, as the title itself has paved the way for Kirari's wrongdoings.
Rin is confused about Yukihime’s explanations. They should only concern Kirari. So he doesn’t understand how that links to them. Yukihime now explains why it matters.

When Yukihime had informed Kirari about the removal of the president position, Kirari had responded that a rule change needed to be approved by the president first. Yukihime had agreed to stop pursuing the 300 billion yen from her if she accepted the rule change. Kirari had explained that gambling had thrilled her because of the uncertain outcome. However, she had discovered another side to it in the past few weeks. The things she had held most dear had been suddenly smashed into pieces (the housepet system and Sayaka). She now found gambling thrilling precisely because players, including herself, could lose what they held dear. Kirari thus challenged them to a gamble where one side would lose it all.
The Hyakkaou Academy Guardians Society agreed to the challenge. They will select seven representatives as well. The outcome of the dispute will be settled with the seven vs seven competition. As Yumeko is delighted, Yukihime tells her that she doesn’t think she will enjoy the gambles. The contestants will embark on a gambling cruise.
