I have no money. That’s why…I’ll wager myself!

Tsuzura Hanatemari to Sachiko Juraku

The Girl Who Isn’t a Stranger is the 84th chapter of Kakegurui Twin, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Kei Saiki.

Summary[]

Tsuzura challenges Sachiko for Yua’s sake. Since Tsuzura can’t come up with 120 million yen, she’s going to wager herself. If Sachiko wins, Tsuzura becomes her housepet. Sachiko rejects the idea that Tsuzura is worth that much. She’s willing to loan 10 million yen and explains that it just takes four all-in bets for Tsuzura to win more than 120 million. Yukimi thinks the only chance they have to beat Sachiko is if the game is settled in one round.

Mary hugs Tsuzura

Mary hugs Tsuzura

Yukimi tells Tsuzura to count her in the bet as well. By gambling alongside Mary and Tsuzura, for the first time, Yukimi felt like her joining Hyakkaou had a purpose. She wants to go all in for one last big gamble before graduation. Shougou and Mikoto join in for Yua’s sake. It’s still far from enough. Sachiko calculates the four of them to be worth 30 million yen. Mary calls Tsuzura an idiot and denies that risking ruin for a stranger leads to becoming a winner. She doesn’t understand where the need for help is in all of this.

Tsuzura answers that Mary came to her rescue. Mary is stunned. Though she reminds them how insane it is to wage herself, Mary hugs Tsuzura and asks this to be the last time. Sachiko values Mary at 50 million. At 80 million, two successive wins could bring the coalition to the wanted 120 million yen. Mikura suddenly asks Sachiko to lend them another 40 million with herself as collateral. She owes Mary a favor, from the Hidden Rules game. Sachiko accepts and promises to punish Mikura later. Sachiko then brings in a king piece from the Feudalism Game. She suggests that they decide with a single throw of a die.

Plot[]

Tsuzura doesn’t think being a winner is about pushing others down for her own sake. She believes it’s about standing firm in her beliefs; and therefore, challenges Sachiko for Yua’s sake. Yukimi complains and points out how Yua and the middle schoolers tormented them for so long. She finds Tsuzura too kind-hearted for her own well-being. Tsuzura responds that it’s her own decision. Sachiko asks Tsuzura if she can really come up with 120 million yen. Tsuzura responds that since she has no money, she’s going to wager herself. If Sachiko wins, Tsuzura becomes her housepet. Sachiko appreciates the idea of someone like Tsuzura becoming her mitten. Yet, she rejects the idea that Tsuzura is worth that much. Sachiko is willing to loan 10 million yen and explains that it just takes four all-in bets for Tsuzura to win more than 120 million. Yukimi doubts it’s feasible to defeat Sachiko in four all-in bets in a row. It has to be settled in one round in her mind. Tsuzura accepts the deal, but Yukimi interrupts her.

She tells Tsuzura to count her in the bet as well. Tsuzura is shocked. At the moment, Yukimi herself isn’t sure why she joined in. From middle school to third year, she steered clear of gambling until Mary and Tsuzura showed up. She went through emotional rollercoasters and her school life made a 180. She has loved these past few months. For the first time, Yukimi felt like her joining Hyakkaou had a purpose. She decides she should go all in for one last big gamble before graduation. Tsuzura tears up. Yukimi doubts adding herself will make them reach the 120 million required. Shougou and Mikoto join in for Yua’s sake. It’s still far from enough. Sachiko calculates the four of them to be worth 30 million yen. The attention turns to Mary. She’s sweating. She calls Tsuzura an idiot and denies that risking ruin for a complete stranger leads to becoming a winner. Mary asks her if she’s going to keep helping people from here on out and who she’s going to leave behind. She doesn’t understand where the need for help is in all of this and doubts Tsuzura can really make a difference.

Tsuzura says that Mary came to her rescue. Mary is stunned. She then reminds them how insane it is to wage herself for a stranger. She hugs Tsuzura and asks this to be the last time. Sachiko finds it hard to believe that Mary is willing to join in. Mary isn’t doing it for the sake of Yua but for the sake of Tsuzura. Sachiko values Mary at 50 million. At 80 million, two successive wins could bring the coalition to the wanted 120 million yen. Yukimi still wants them to somehow find a way to make the game about one showdown.
