I'm going to put my heart and soul into defeating the formidable Sachiko!

Yua Shishiba to herself

The Leading Girl is the 82nd chapter of Kakegurui Twin, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Kei Saiki.

Summary[]

The showdown of round 12 happens. It's a three-way tie as everyone chooses the serf. Another draw comes after everyone plays serf again.

For the third showdown of the round, another draw comes, this time with the king, knight, and serf. Sachiko tells them that she's already over this. She places a serf before the showdown.

Yukimi calculates that there are now four possible outcomes with the pieces remaining. One of them result in a Mary win, one in a Yua win, one in a Sachiko win and the other in a draw. Mary can never lose if she plays the knight, but always loses if she plays the king. Meanwhile, Yua has a 50/50 chance of losing or winning if she plays the serf. Expecting that Mary won't play the king, Yua plays the king for a chance at a tie.

Mary also plays the king. Which means a Sachiko victory, ending the match.

Plot[]

The showdown of round 12 happens. It's a three-way tie as everyone chooses the serf. Yukimi thinks that the mind games are over with and that what is needed now is luck as well as willpower. Another draw comes after everyone plays serf again. The situation favors Mary and Sachiko. Each move reduces Yua’s options and a single loss could put her into a debt of millions. Yukimi doubts that a middle schooler can handle so much pressure. Yua suddenly drops a serf.

Mikoto asks Yua to get herself together; she usually maintains a smile even when the situation is dire. Yua responds that this constant smile was just an act she put on to keep the upperclassmen guessing. She explains that she hasn't shown her true self and she just used Mikoto and Shougou as pawns. Shougou accepts this role. He believes it's a win-win situation where Yua has been using them like pawns, but they have benefited from her protection. Mikoto assures Yua that they really like her. Yua is surprised.

Niwa starts the cooldown for the third showdown of the round. It's another three-way tie as the king, knight, and serf were played. Yua thanks Mikoto and sets her mind to defeating Sachiko.

Sachiko tells them that she's already over this. She places a serf before the showdown. The spectators wonder what her true intent is. If Mary plays the logical move that guarantees she won't lose, Yua must play the king for a chance at a tie. The round is certain to end in a draw if both Yua and Mary play the most logical move. Showdown begins. Yua plays the king while Mary does too. Which means a Sachiko victory, ending the match.
