The Lying Girl is the seventh chapter of Kakegurui written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Toru Naomura.
Summary[]
The gamble continues. Jun Kiwatari is discovered to be cheating along with Nanami Tsubomi helping him. Nanami's role and reason to helping Jun is slowly being revealed.
Plot[]
Following Mary Saotome's fourth-round victory with a bad hand, Jun Kiwatari was completely discredited. Mary says she knew he would notice Yumeko's obvious third-round victory and scoffed at her stupidity. Jun tries to get back on top since she won only one, but when Mary said she would never lose to someone like him, he got angry, having to be warned that violent conduct was prohibited by Sayaka Igarashi, the dealer.
After Mary agrees not to tease him so much, Sayaka starts the fifth round. Jun bets a Kiwatari chip and Nanami Tsubomi calls with a Tsubomi chip, but decides to pass at the last minute. To everyone's surprise, Yumeko raises by four Kiwatari chips, betting the maximum amount. Jun wonders if Yumeko had any strong hands as she was sure she and Mary were working together. He thought it might be a bad hand asking him to fold, so he called with a Kiwatari chip and two Tsubomi. Sayaka asks Jun and Yumeko to show their hands. He hoped she had a bad hand too, but that wasn't the case: Yumeko wins the round with a two-and five-diamond hand.
As Jun has run out of Kiwatari chips, Sayaka asks him to pay the mandatory bet with Nanami's chips. For the sixth round, Mary goes with a max bet and Jun checks, making her win with a bad hand. As Jun notices, Yumeko suggests that Nanami stop following Jun's orders, revealing how she told him if she had a suited hand. Mary reveals that she knew that Nanami Tsubomi was practically a slave to Jun's group and how worried she was that they would certainly work together, seeing no alternative but to team up with Yumeko.
Yumeko takes Nanami's hand and presents a safer way to say her cards. Mary complained about this attitude, but she ignored it and recommended that Jun also help Nanami, irritating him. Sayaka wondered what she would do since everyone seemed to cheat in some way, but Yumeko suggested that neither pair denounce the other's cheating, so they could continue the game, which, according to her, was much more fun. Everyone agrees and Yumeko happily announces that the game has turned into a battle of bluffs.
