The Messenger Girl is the seventh chapter of the first volume of Kakegurui Twin written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Saiki Kei.

Plot[]

The presenter announces the beginning of the confessions, remembering that it was the only chance to find someone special. Tsuzura Hanatemari looks resentfully at Mary Saotome before taking a seat beside her. On the boys' side, Kanade Musubi was especially excited as Haruto Kibashira seemed concerned about it. Mary says loud and clear for everyone to follow the plan: Chitose Inui nods and Kurumi Kurume wonders why she's talking so loud; Tsuzura didn't know what she was talking about. Still, Mary just reminds them that they were there to win, that they would be winners.

Mikura Sado asks if any of the girls would use any bonuses and Mary claims she would take any risk to win and says she would use the "sleeping together" discount. Yukimi Togakushi says that he would also use that discount and Tsuzura hesitates for a moment, but when Mary teases her, she claims that she would also use that bonus. The boys looked surprised that three girls had decided to take such chances in that round. Kanade looked gleeful, but then Ren Kochi warns him that Tsuzura probably won't confess to him, so he should pick Yukimi to get her home and Kanade agrees.

Chitose reveals herself as the traitor

Mikura then starts the second round of confessions and Chitose should start. Kurumi wishes her luck and suggests that she think about it a lot; the other agrees. In her thoughts, Chitose didn't expect Sachiko to do the second round with the same groups, wondering if she had any connection with Mary. Still, her plan wouldn't work since she was the traitor, not Tsuzura.

Chitose had contact with the boys' team, and as she announced she was ready and Mikura collected their cards, Inui thought to herself that even though Kanade had a lot of money due to her parents' conglomerate, she wouldn't want to keep it for, in addition to having a bad reputation, he believed that he was merely participating for the discount bonuses the girls could use to alleviate what they had to pay if they lost. For her, it would be a big loss not to get any money at a gambling school, so she helped Kanade and got paid for it, mentally "apologizing" to Mary, Tsuzura and Yukimi and wishing them luck at "slumber parties."

Chitose and Kanade surprised by Yukimi's sudden change of target

Chitose and Kanade surprised by Yukimi's sudden change of target.

Chitose says he would confess to Nobuya, but claims it was just for the game as he still liked Mamoru Kuonji. Mikura asks the next one to declare her target and, while Inui thought the boys already knew what would happen, Kurumi says she would be declaring herself to Mamoru, much to Chitose's surprise, who asked if she hadn't forgotten the plan; Kurume claimed he shouldn't follow him if there was a spy among them.

Thinking it would be suspicious to act that way, Chitose resigned himself to that and, feeling Ren's eyes on him, said mentally that it wasn't his fault. Next was Yukimi, and Inui thought that since she had accepted Mary's offer, she would follow the plan for sure: confess to Kanade. Kanade himself was ecstatic thinking that his seventeen years of rejection would end that day with the "slumber party" with Yukimi. The two were confident, but their expectations were shattered when the Togakushi claimed their target was Haruto.

Mary exposes the boys' cheating

Haruto was elated, Chitose was discredited, Kurumi was laughing at the unfolding of events and Ren wondered what was happening; Kanade failed to get Tsuzura after having sacrificed her to Yukimi, but everyone is surprised when Hanatemari declares that he would be confessing to Kanade. Ren seemed even more surprised by the boldness of such a dangerous statement, considering Musubi's interest in Tsuzura; finally realizes that only one person could have made that whole plan.

Mary calls Kanade and claims she was getting jealous of his popularity, finally saying that she liked him too (that is, it was her declaration). The boys' reactions were exasperated that their plan had failed. Mikura announces that only one pairing was possible: between Chitose and Nobuya, and congratulated them. Chitose didn't know what to say and Mary started to laugh, wondering how stupid they could be.
