Yumeko Jabami to Ryota Suzui

The Money Game Girl is the 113th chapter of Kakegurui, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Toru Naomura.

Summary[]

The Money Game requires two extra people, so Karen and Ryota join in. Players invest in the market and win or lose money depending on how it goes. Whoever turns in more profit for their investment wins the game. Yumeko and Kinu will take turns being the dealer. The dealer is blindfolded, while players invest a 10 thousand, 1 million, or 100 million-yen chip into their coin bank. After everyone’s done, the dealer selects one of the invested chips, unaware of who each belongs to. The player who invested the selected chip loses the money from it. Others get to keep what they have. Once Yumeko and Kinu finish their turns as dealers, a round is over. The game lasts five rounds.

At the end of each round, each extra player gets paid their profit from Kinu or owes her money if they’re in deficit. Yumeko starts as the dealer. Kinu puts a 10 thousand yen coin in her bank; Ryota puts 1 million; Karen puts 10 thousand. Yumeko picks Ryota’s coin, which makes him down 1 million yen. While the other two gained 10,000 each.

Ryota realizes there was no benefit for Yumeko in letting his investment of 1 million yen go through since it’d just make her a million yen behind first place. The two other investments were lower. Ryota blames himself. Yumeko tells him not to worry, as they’re going to have a lot of chances in this game and he can quickly get that money back.

Plot[]

A coin bank from Shinobazu Industries is placed over the game board. Kinu explains the rules. While only Yumeko and she will be competing, the game requires two extra people. So Karen and Ryota join in.

The game is modelled after investing. Players invest in the market and win or lose money depending on how it goes. Whoever turns in more profit for their investment wins the game.

Yumeko and Kinu will take turns being the dealer. They'll play with bank coins and three types of chips. The dealer is blindfolded while the other players take action. Players can invest a 10 thousand, 1 million, or 100 million-yen chip into their coin bank. After everyone invests, the positions of the banks are shuffled.

The dealer then breaks them all and selects one of the invested chips. The player who invested the selected chip loses the money from it. Others get to keep what they have. Once Yumeko and Kinu finish their turns as dealers, a round is over. The game lasts five rounds.

To motivate the extras to play seriously, Kinu tells them she's going to give whatever chips they've played converted into real money after each round. However, if they have debts, they'll have to pay Kinu. As the two complain, Kinu throws a hammer at them. It barely misses Ryota. Kinu explains that she's the one who can complain, as Kabura dragged her into this.

Yumeko tells them it’s fine. Kinu mentions that Yumeko shouldn’t be so calm about this, as her ring means a lot to her. Yumeko replies that Kinu would be in as much trouble as her if she lost since the money Kirari owes is at stake for the overall gambling cruise.

Yumeko starts as the dealer. As Kinu puts a 10 thousand yen coin in her bank, Karen and Ryota are shocked. They look at each other and whisper. Kinu loudly asks if they’re trying to inform Yumeko about what coin she put in. She threatens to beat them up if they try that. Anise wouldn’t see this as a violation of the rules. Yumeko refuses any help as cheating would make the game boring in her mind. Ryota puts 1 million in. Karen puts in 10 thousand. The referee shuffles the coin banks. Yumeko crushes them and feels happy to have done it. She picks Ryota’s coin, which makes him anxious. He’s down 1 million yen. While the other two gained 10,000 each.

Ryota realizes there was no benefit for Yumeko in letting his investment of 1 million yen go through since it’d just make her a million yen behind first place. The two other investments were lower, so she simply had to pick his, the highest one. Ryota blames himself. Yumeko tells him not to worry, as they’re going to have a lot of chances in this game and he can quickly get that money back.
