Plot[]
For the first two rounds, the three players have made a tie. Yukimi wonders what Kirari was thinking when she designed this game. Meanwhile, Sayaka praises Kirari for her game design. Kirari responds that if everyone just plays the most optimal move, it’s a perpetual stalemate. Playing a different move than the best ones puts one at a disadvantage.
As round three begins, Shougou is confident it won’t end in a tie. Because players have used the early rounds to gauge each other’s style. Whilst the king is the weakest piece to play, it would still win against two knights. Both Yua and Mary are thinking about the king. Before the signal, Sachiko puts her knight on the table for everyone to see. She says she’s going to play it anyways and the referee can keep going with her signal. Mary, who wanted to play the king, doesn’t want to change her pick at first. But she then realizes that Yua might be thinking of playing king too. So she switches to serf, expecting a king-knight-serf tie. In which case only Mary would be left with all three pieces available for the next showdown, contrary to the other two players.
Yua and Mary both play serf, which gives Sachiko the win for the third round. The thirty million yen pot goes to her. For round 4, Mary doesn’t want to budge. She plays her king, just like Yua, while Sachiko goes for the serf. Sachiko thus wins again. 140 million yen by her side. 80 million yen for Yua and Mary each. While Mary is shocked by Sachiko reading her perfectly, Yua tries to figure out the king’s purpose. Round 5 begins. Mary chooses the knight while the other two pick a king. Their dice roll both amount to ‘king’. With subsequent sets, a draw is guaranteed, so the round ends in a tie. Since the king is a high-risk low-return piece, Mary plays the knight in the sixth round. She’s shocked to find out that Yua and Sachiko stuck to playing their kings. Dice roll to king again, causing a draw.
Mary sees their action as a test of willpower as one day, a die will eventually roll to ‘zero’. Sachiko and her play the knight during round 7. While Yua chooses a king. She wins this pot.
