Mary Saotome to Mikoto Goutou and Shougou Soga

The Shattering Girl is the 74th chapter of Kakegurui Twin, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Kei Saiki.

Summary[]

Shougou and Mikoto had believed Mary to be the only potential cheater, but understand any player could have. Tsuzura went all in so Shougou thinks she has a strong hand. Mikoto judges that it’s a bluff. She demands that Shougou calls. Shougou folds. He explains that if the high schoolers were cheating, they’d lose for sure. He also doubts that Mikoto was certain that there was no cheating. Shougou’s hand is a straight. Yukimi raises to 1,000,000. Shougou calls. Yukimi has two sixes as open dice. Shougou knows that she’d realistically need a full house to beat his straight.

Kurumi raises to ten million, stunning Shougou. Shougou understands that losing that much money would mean him losing the entire game. He begins losing his cool. Mikoto doesn’t detect any cheating, but is anxious because all players touched their cups. Four more players call: Yukimi, Kanade, Mary, and Tsuzura. If one of them cheated and Shougou didn’t notice, he’d lose. He realizes that there is a chance his Straight isn’t enough to win and also a chance Mikoto missed seeing cheating.

Shougou folds again. Mikoto assures that there is no cheating. Shougou explains that betting 10 million yen is too risky and Mikoto might’ve missed signs. He asserts that folding is the right answer. Mary speaks as if the game is already over.

Shougou responds that it isn’t. He thinks he can win if the players keep betting 10 million. Shougou rolls a full house and thinks of a hole in Mary’s strategy. Only two hands or a better full house can beat a full house. Shougou plans on winning 50 million in the next round. Mikoto says that Mary put a die in her cup again, but is certain it’s a blank one. She adds that no other player tried anything.

Shougou goes all in from the start. The showdown begins, and Shougou reveals his full house in the showdown. Mary appears shocked. Kurumi and Tsuzura lose. Shougou is worried about whether Mary cheated or not. She shows her one pair. Mikoto is happy and thinks they’ve won. Mary then admits that she was bait. She says that Yukimi is the actual cheater and winner.

Yukimi has a five of a kind of fives. She thus wins the hand and Shougou loses all his chips. Kurumi compliments Yukimi’s cheating. Mikoto cries and apologizes for not being able to see Yukimi cheating. Shougou denies that it’s her fault and sobs. Mary tells them that she wants to ask something.
