—Yumeko Jabami to the audience at Yumemi's concert |
The Sovereign Girl is the twenty-second chapter of Kakegurui written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Toru Naomura.
Summary[]
Kaede Manyuda is charged by Yumeko Jabami and Yumemi Yumemite for mailing the letter to Yumeko, and they plan to settle it with a public match.
Plot[]
At some secret location, Kirari Momobami is having a meeting with the heads of the family.
Back at Hyakkaou Private Academy, Yumemi Yumemite is closing her show and she thanks everyone for attending. Yumeko Jabami notices Saori thinking that this isn't the ending she thought would happen, and she tells her that it's not over just yet. Yumeko takes the microphone and asks for everyone's attention. She tells them that the entire gamble was over a fan letter that Yumemi ripped up. She tells them that the letter was sent to her anonymously. Yumemi tells her that she doesn't have to do this, but Yumeko insists. Yumeko tells them that she refuses to let whoever did this be forgiven, and the audience responds with an outcry to make whoever did this pay. Yumeko asks Yumemi if she has any idea who could have done this, and she tells her that she doesn't know, but Saori says that she thinks she knows. Saori tells Yumemi how her dream is to make Yumemi's dreams come true, and that whoever would do this must pay. Yumemi tells her that she does have an idea of who could have done this, and she calls out Kaede Manyuda. Saori seconds Yumemi's thought, saying that he organized the gamble and that he was the only one who could have interfered. In the audience, Itsuki Sumeragi tells Mary Saotome and Ryota Suzui that she bought her tickets off a Student Council member.
Kaede comes onto the stage and tells them that he helped organize the event to take down Yumeko and that he has nothing to apologize for, and he swears his very position on that, as he strives to become the next Student Council president. The people in the audience say that if that's what he's saying, then he wouldn't do anything to harm the other members. But Kaede thinks to himself that this is part of his plan. If Yumemi lost, that'd be one less opponent for the throne, but if Yumeko lost, it'd be all thanks to the arrangements he made. Yumeko laughs at him and tells him that he never denied the accusation, and he tells her that she has no evidence. She tells him that this isn't a court of law and that they should just decide the matter with a gamble. He rejects her offer, telling her that a match requires equal bets on both sides and that she should know her place as a Housepet. The audience tells him to cut it out, and that he tried to destroy Yumemi and now he's trying to run away from it. Yumeko says that if he wasn't want to, then so be it, and she challenges him to a public match. Itsuki cries out from the audience, asking her why she's using it now, and that she thought she was going to save it to challenge the president. Yumeko tells her that she's not a very patient girl. From the audience, Runa Yomozuki says to herself that she told him that when everything seems to be going great, it is all falling apart from behind the scenes.
Kaede tells her that he accepts her public match, even though he doesn't have a choice. From the wings, Runa notices that the the vice-president is gone, and soon later, she appears on the stage. She tells them that she will be their dealer. Kaede accepts and asks what the rules are. She tells him that, given the urgency, they'll be playing an original game with standard playing cards called Choice Poker.
