—Mikoto Gouto to Jun Kiwatari after kicking him. |
The Spotting Girl is the 69th chapter of Kakegurui Twin, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Kei Saiki.
Summary[]
Mikoto and Shougo expose Chitose for cheating in Craps. The middle schoolers press Chitose to pay back the stolen money to avoid punishment by the student council, or she'll be labeled a cheater forever. At this rate, Chitose would become a housepet. Chitose bursts into tears as she says she can’t pay everything back.
Shougou and Mikoto return to the Literary Club and discuss the game and their finding of the cheating. They’re confident that people will never be able to cheat to defeat them.
Meanwhile, the former Literary Club members discuss Shougou and Mikoto’s rise in popularity for exposing cheaters. Tsuzura thinks that they have an ulterior motive, which is to entrap the cheaters, which makes them no better than the cheaters according to her. In a Poker gambling game involving Kanade and his friends, Jun is caught cheating by Mikoto. She exposes him. Kanade, feeling unwell and having lost money, encounters the former Literary Club members. Mary asks him to join forces with them.
Plot[]
Chitose Inui describes herself as an 18-year-old girl in her prime at Hyakkaou. She was raised like a princess. Chitose then explains that Hyakkaou is a gambling school. According to her, the smarter students pick up that winning at gambling comes down to cheating.
Chitose had made a roll that made all players win. Her next roll was "Craps," which makes everyone lose. Gamblers thus complain to Chitose. She responds that she can’t do anything about it. Chitose apologizes and says that the rolls are random after all.
Shougou grabs her hand. He forces her to drop the dice. Shougou grabs the dice and keeps rolling them. They always land on twelve. Chitose panics as the students saw this. They understood that Chitose swapped out dice. Chitose defends herself by saying that she wouldn’t cheat to make herself lose, like earlier. Shougou adds that Chitose is working with the dealer.
In craps, when players lose, the dealer wins. Since the dealer never touches the dice in this game, she has to work with one player to cheat. Chitose can’t believe Shougou figured out so much. Mikoto reminds Chitose that she has to pay back the money she stole from cheating and buy the students’ silence. Mikoto explains that if Chitose doesn’t pay and the student council hears about it, they'll punish her. No one will help Chitose, as she'll be known as a cheater forever. Chitose will definitely become a housepet in that case.
Chitose still refuses, saying she can’t pay back all that. Mikoto presses her to say whether or not she will. Chitose bursts into tears.
Mikoto and Shougou return to the Literary Club and meet up with Yua. Shougou explains that he figured someone cheated based on the money’s flow, but didn’t know who. It was thanks to Mikoto who kept her eyes on everybody’s hand to watch when the dice switch would be made. Shougou and Mikoto now believe that cheating will never work on them. Mikoto plans on going up against weak opponents and getting Yua more money.
Meanwhile, the former Literary Club members including Kurumi are conversing about the middle schoolers. Yukimi believes a lot of people must hate them now. Kurumi responds that people are actually praising them since they keep exposing cheaters. Yukimi is mad because the middle schoolers beat them by cheating.
Tsuzura questions their morality because she suspects that they’re simply exposing people in order to entrap them. Tsuzura adds that she wants to get back her 9 million yen. Mary smiles as she believes there is a chance to take them down for good.
At the same time, Kanade, his friends, Jun, and Shougou are gambling on Poker. Jun smiles as his cheating wasn’t exposed yet. Mikoto slams his head against the table. She takes out cards from Jun’s pocket. Most players only now realized Jun was switching cards out. Mikoto asks him how he will pay back the money he stole. Jun clenches his fist and tries to hit her. Mikoto dodges and kicks him in a painful area.
Kanade feels sick since he can’t deal with violence. As his friends carry him out, he realizes that he’s lost 200,000 yen. The boys meet the former Literary Club members in the hallway. Kanade recovered upon seeing Mary. Mary asks him for a service. Kanade responds that he’d do anything for her. Mary asks him to team up with them.
