The Swindling Girl is the 81st chapter of Kakegurui Twin, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Kei Saiki.
Summary[]
Mary defeats Sachiko in round 11, by rolling a king; while Sachiko rolled a zero. She now takes the lead with 150 million compared to Sachiko’s 120. Down to 30 million yen, Yua gets anxious. She declares that Sachiko must’ve seen her pretending to choose the king. Mary directly tells Yua that her cheating has been found out. Yua has ensured that her king never rolls on zero. Sachiko has allowed the cheating to go on because it benefitted her so far.
Yua insists that Sachiko is cheating in some form. Mary denies the accusations in Sachiko’s stead. Mary then mentions that even she can read Yua at the moment. She points at the piece arrangement. The serfs of Yua are always lined up. When Yua looked at the pieces to weigh her options, she naturally looked at the serf group differently than the way she looked at the single knight and single king. What Sachiko was truly looking at, throughout the rounds, was Yua’s glance.
In the last round, once Mary realized Yua would either play knight or king, the only logical choice available for Mary became the king. Afterwards, Mary tells Yua to not feel sad, as the real game only begins now. Her goal is to defeat Sachiko. Round 12 begins with the same x5 rate. It might be the last one. Showdown.
Plot[]
Round 11. Mary and Sachiko both have kings. However, Sachiko rolls to zero, while Mary rolls to king, making the latter win. She now takes the lead with 150 million compared to Sachiko’s 120. Yukimi and Tsuzura are delighted. Sachiko congratulates her for taking risk and admits she likes that side of her. She then questions Yua’s decision. Down to 30 million yen, Yua gets anxious. Incandescent, she declares that Sachiko must’ve seen her pretending to choose the king. Sachiko asks Mary to explain. Mary directly tells Yua that her cheating has been found out. She greets her audacity, but reveals her con. Yua has ensured that her king never rolls on zero. Yua gets up from her seat and demands an answer as to how they thought of taking out their kings. Mary admits that she’s just found out, and thinks Sachiko realized it a long time ago. Sachiko has allowed the cheating to go on because it benefitted her so far.
Mary points out the irony in Yua accusing someone else of cheating when she is the actual cheater. Yua insists that Sachiko is cheating in some form, perhaps by using some kind of hidden camera that points towards their hands. Mary denies the accusations in Sachiko’s stead. She does find the fact that Sachiko is not cheating makes her even more terrifying. Yua does not budge on the accusations. Mary mentions that even she can read Yua at the moment. She points at the piece arrangement. Yua replies that they wouldn’t be able to read her since the pieces are arranged by her in a random order every round. Mary makes a correction: The serfs of Yua are always lined up.
When Yua looked at the pieces to weigh her options, she naturally looked at the serf group differently than the way she looked at the single knight and single king. What Sachiko was truly looking at, throughout the rounds, was Yua’s glance. Yua refuses to believe that they could have noticed the difference.
In the last round, once Mary realized Yua would either play knight or king, the only logical choice available for Mary became the king. Sachiko finds Yua pathetic, as even a newbie shouldn’t have made such a mistake. She then teases her by mentioning Aoi. Yua is about to have a breakdown as she realizes the opponents are leagues ahead of her.
Tsuzura understands that if Yua loses this round, it’s over. Yet, she doesn’t want the middle schoolers to bear a debt of 100 million yen. She also doubts this is a path to becoming winners.
Meanwhile, Mary tells Yua to not feel sad, as the real game only begins now. Her goal is to defeat Sachiko. Tsuzura is happy as she believes this is the right path to take if they want to become winners. Round 12 begins with the same x5 rate. It might be the last one. Showdown.
