Yes, it's a stroke of luck that she remembered it was hearts. But how'd we get in this situation where luck won us out even while we were being steamrolled by your skills? It's because you don't consider people's feelings. You didn't stop to think that there are times where pride beats logic.

Mary Saotome to Ouri Shimotsukiuri

The Truly Foolish Girl is the 28th chapter of Kakegurui Twin, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Kei Saiki.

Summary[]

The 10th round begins and Mary is the dealer. Mary is first with 32 points, Ouri is second with 30 points, Naoko and Houko are tied at third with 28 points, and Mikura is last with 26 points. Mary is guaranteed third or better, so she can't become a housepet. Ouri wants the first place and wants to make them feel that believing in Mary was a mistake. Ouri is convinced that she's going to win this round because she has memorized all fifty rule cards. Ouri will reveal as soon as Mary starts signaling.

Mikura realizes that she's in last place. She concludes that Mary drove her mad. Mary had convinced everyone not to take the ten points in round 9. Mary asks Mikura what her relationship with Juraku is and why she joined this gamble.

A flashback begins. Mikura was excited by seeing their faces contort with despair. She wanted to inflict even more pain. Juraku then arrived and challenged her to a gamble. Mikura had been crushed. Juraku asks her what she thinks the reason she became a housepet is. Mikura didn't know. Juraku tells her that if she doesn't know, she'll give her a chance and they'll gamble again in one week. She gives Mikura a collar to wear. Juraku brought Mikura with her all around the school. After one week, Mikura challenges Juraku, and gets defeated once again.

Juraku said they'd keep doing this until Mikura figured an answer. After a few weeks, Juraku gave Mikura another chance, but asked her to lick her shoe. Mikura found an answer. It wasn't that she wanted to torment people, she just wanted to feel what they were feeling. The fact that Mikura could never win against Juraku, or be content no matter how much she tormented others, or that she became a housepet makes her conclude that she wants to dedicate everything she has to Juraku. She accepts to lick Juraku's shoe. The flashback ends.

Mary tested Mikura’s devotion to Juraku. She says that the rule is based on a single suit and there are no restrictions. Mary gives a hint by saying that in the game of "Doubt Poker" Juraku and her had a few weeks ago, Juraku saw through Mary's flush. She says that Mikura will find the answer in the suit of the flush. Ouri is certain that there is no way Mikura could remember this, but Mikura confidently reveals "hearts only." Mary shows the rule card, proving Mikura right. The game is over. Mikura is first with 36 points, Mary is second with 32, Ouri is third with 30, and the Ougatou siblings are tied at fourth with 28.

Ouri is shocked. She asks Mikura how she could recall something so trivial. Ouri is convinced that it was luck. Mary explains that they got in this situation because Ouri doesn't consider people's feelings. Ouri didn't stop to think that sometimes pride beats logic. Mary calls Ouri stupid. Ouri, furious, tells Mary that she won't forgive her for this. Mary then receives five million yen from the sisters. They left after receiving their money. Mikura let Mary keep all the money. She asks Mary to not become a housepet. They shook hands.
