The Two-Faced Girl is the fourteenth chapter of Kakegurui Twin, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Kei Saiki.
Summary[]
Yukimi and Tsuzura execute Mary’s plan. Meanwhile, Mary cheats in Dice Nim Game, but Sakura still wins and had caught her. Mary had swapped the die to roll a 6 when 7 stones were supposed to be left. However, Sakura had already taken a black stone before the game began. Mary has to give her chest to Sakura as a consequence. Sakura opens her chest and finds the same map as Mary’s inside of it. She knows that it’s obviously not the treasure.
Mary explains that they both made the mistake of searching only on the first floor, but in reality, the maps represent coordinates in a three-dimensional space. The Club Building has four floors.
Mary thus made Tsuzura and Yukimi search in different places. Their making noises was just to distract Sakura. Mary wins the treasure hunt, and Sakura acknowledges her defeat. Aoi informs Sakura that she’s out of Full-Bloom. Sakura breaks into tears. She asks if he’s giving up on the mariage too.
Aoi responds that he doesn’t care who his fiancée is. He finds the merits of their families allying more important. Aoi then nonchalantly asks Mary to join Full-Bloom. Mary abhors Aoi for how he spoke with Sakura and she says she’ll never join a group Aoi is the leader of.
Plot[]
Yukimi and Tsuzura execute Mary’s plan. Meanwhile, Mary loses at Dice Nim Game. As Mary is shocked, Sakura takes out dice from Mary’s pocket. She accuses her of cheating by switching out the dice. Mikura says that Aoi should’ve noticed it. Sakura explains that he knew, but remained silent. Aoi tells them that he never said cheating was prohibited.
Since a full Go set consists of 181 black stones and 180 white stones, it was easy to keep track of the remaining stones during the match. When 7 stones were supposed to be left, Mary swapped the normal die with a loaded one designed to land on 6. She had come to the game with a loaded die for each number. When switching out the die, she had Tsuzura and Yukimi make loud noises to distract Sakura.
Mary asks Sakura why she still lost despite her trick. Sakura takes out a black stone from her pocket. She had taken it before the game, which made Mary’s cheating backfire. Sakura tells Mary she lacks the skills to join Full-Bloom. Mary now has to give her chest to Sakura. Aoi congratulates his fiancée. Sakura is confident Aoi will reconsider recruiting Mary.
Mary recognizes her loss to herself. She was crushed, playing alone, but she only had to join forces with her friends. Mary smirks. As Sakura opens her chest, she only finds Mary’s map. Tsuzura and Yukimi arrive back at the Dice Nim Game room. They declare that they’ve found the treasure chest. Sakura is confused about this third chest. Mary states that she’s won. She explains they’ve made the mistake of assuming their map was for the treasure. Also, Sachiko’s Dice Nim Game was pointless. Mary asks Sakura what floor she’s searched. Sakura responds the first one, and that’s where she’s found the chest. Mary says there are four floors and their two scores represent three-dimensional coordinates for the club building. Sakura is astounded.
Mary had made Tsuzura and Yukimi search in different places since they didn’t know which map formed which axis. Their making noise was just a distraction. Sachiko congratulates Mary. Sakura feels deceived, as she was better than Mary in every way. Mary answers that Sakura was too confident, as she went as far as showing her map to Mary. Sakura lost because she looked down on Mary and her group.
Sakura acknowledges defeat. Mary opens the treasure chest and it’s a housepet collar. Sachiko declares Mary the winner. Mikura is fuming and believes it’s all Sakura’s fault. Aoi demands that Mary join. Sakura also would like her to join. Aoi asks Sakura why she’s getting involved since he’s kicking her out of Full-Bloom. Sakura is shocked as it’s just one loss. Aoi thinks Sakura will simply drag them down.
Sakura breaks into tears, as she remembers Aoi recruiting her. She asks him if he’s giving up on the marriage. Aoi responds that he could never do that, as there are a lot of merits of two powerful families marrying. He doesn’t care what kind of person will be his fiancée. Aoi then nonchalantly asks Mary if she’s willing to join Full-Bloom. Mary loathes Aoi for how he spoke with Sakura and she says she’ll never join a group Aoi is the leader of. Sachiko smirks and Aoi is surprised.
