The Upright Girl is the 88th chapter of Kakegurui written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Toru Naomura. It’s in the 15th volume.

Summary

Ririka “becomes” Kirari, she believes that this is the only way to defeat her. Kirari and Ririka know everything about each other and they can perfectly read themselves. One kept betting ten votes and the other kept folding because they knew the exact strength of each other’s hands. Mary had enough of this, and decided to raise to thirty votes. The sisters both told Mary that she was in the way. Kirari raised to 138 votes and won the showdown against Mary, who now has only one vote.

Plot

Kirari and Ririka are said to have grown intermixed, and not to be unified, but uniform. It's said that when the victor of one of the two is decided, she becomes the "true" one, and the loser becomes a fake.

Kirari and Ririka understand that they know everything about each other. However, there can't be a tie in this gamble. Ririka tells Mary that becoming Kirari is the only way to defeat her. Ririka is determined to defeat Kirari.

Round 17 begins and Ririka is the dealer. Mary doesn’t think she can keep up any longer. Ririka bet ten votes, and Kirari folded. Mary was also out so Ririka won. Round 18 begins and Kirari is the dealer. Kirari bets ten votes, and Ririka folds. Mary realizes that both of them know exactly how strong the other's hand is, they can read each other perfectly.

They keep on betting ten votes and folding. Mary had enough of this, and decided to raise to thirty votes some rounds later. The sisters gave her a dark look. They both tell Mary that she’s in the way. Mary gets angry, and she’s about to raise, but Kirari decides to raise to 138 votes before Mary can say a number. Mary had 139 votes, but still called. She thinks that she’ll win, but the showdown resulted in a crushing victory of Kirari with a three of a kind against a two pair.

Mary is frightened and Kirari repeats herself by telling Mary that she’s in the way.

Summary

Mary goes all in, and she only has one vote. Kirari calls and loses. Because of a side bet made between Mary and Ririka, Mary receives one hundred votes. Ririka tells Kirari, who didn't understand why Mary received so many votes, that it's because of a side bet. It triggers only after certain conditions are met. She adds that only Mary and her know the conditions of the side bet. Kirari realizes that Ririka has kept a secret from her.

Plot

The Momobami sisters think Mary has been eliminated from this game because she’s only got one vote left. Mary goes all in, Kirari calls. Mary wins with a three of a kind against Kirari’s one pair.

There is a flashback of Mary and Ririka talking before the game. Mary wants to have a secret with Ririka, without Kirari being involved. If one of them is about to lose, the other has to drag her right back in the game.

So, Mary has gained one hundred votes from Kirari because she went all in. Kirari doesn't understand, and says that Mary only had one vote. She asks where the ninety-nine other votes came from. Ririka explains to her that it was a side bet.

Mary and Ririka had placed a side bet with each other in which they exchange votes when certain conditions are met. The conditions are only known by Mary and Ririka. Kirari asks Ririka if she has been keeping a secret from her. Mary says that no matter how deep their connection is, Kirari and Ririka are two different people.
