It's been 122 years since Hyakkaou Academy was founded. And that's how many “valedictorians” we have among us. We are the seven who have been picked by our peers. In that way, it's not strictly us the new student council will be fighting. They are, in a sense, up against the history of Hyakkaou Academy itself.

Yukihime Yasha to five other representatives of the Guardians Society

The Writhing Girls is the 111th chapter of Kakegurui, written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Toru Naomura.

Summary[]

Runa questions if there is a difference for them whether they win or lose the gambling cruise. Terano explains that she'd profit from a Momobami family member being the president. Rin agrees. Ririka merely wants to save her sister. Kaede believes his only way to move up in the world is to get Kirari back. Yumeko will just try to win because gambling excites her. They're divided, so making a unified strategy won't work. Kaede adds that something has been left out of the rules on purpose. They have no idea of how individual games work. Since it seems like the players themselves choose, whoever suggests the game has a massive advantage. Terano demands that they never accept the opponent's proposal. She also suggests they go all out against the Guardians Society members. Upon graduation, the senior recognized as the strongest gambler is chosen as the valedictorian. That person is the alumni representative of the year. The guardians society is composed of valedictorians from each year. As for Yuu and Yukihime, their names aren't on the valedictorian’s school list because they actually inherited their titles.

Meanwhile, the Guardians Society is also hosting a meeting, in another room. Their team unity is so feeble that one of their members didn't even show up. Since there is no leader, Yukihime explains that every guardian has carte blanche on how to act.

Kirari is watching the event on her phone.

Plot[]

Kaede asks Yumeko why Kabura only treated her ring as something special. Yumeko pretends that she doesn't know. Runa switches the topics. She doesn't think there is a difference for them whether they win or lose the gambling cruise. She doesn't think Kirari matters that much to them. Terano explains that she'd profit from a Momobami family member being the president. Rin agrees. Ririka merely wants to save her sister. Kaede believes his only way to move up in the world is to get Kirari back. Karen has no motive. Yumeko will just try to win because gambling excites her. As they're divided, Terano understands that making a unified strategy won't work. Kaede adds that something has been left out of the rules on purpose. Rin has out: they have no idea of how individual games work. Since it seems like the players themselves choose, whoever suggests the game has a massive advantage; being able to insert loopholes or form strategies in advance. Terano demands that they never accept the opponent's proposal. Before accepting, Yumeko wants to hear our Terano’s team strategy. The latter suggests they go all out against the guardians society members, otherwise they're going to get crushed. Terano has conducted research. Upon graduation, the senior recognized as the strongest gambler is chosen as the valedictorian. That person is the alumni representative of the year. The guardians society is composed of valedictorians from each year. Yumeko makes the deduction that Yuu and Yukihime were therefore the best gamblers of their school years. Terano answers that their names aren't on the valedictorian’s school list because they actually inherited the titles.

Meanwhile, the guardians society is also hosting a meeting, in another room.

Their team unity is so feeble that one of their members didn't even show up. This doesn't surprise Riiza, as she'd hardly call her teammates friends. Kanau criticizes the others for not wearing their school uniforms like he is. Yukihime asks that they stop bickering. Since there is no leader, she explains that every guardian has carte blanche on how to act. Kinu doubts they can win like that. Yukihime explains that, after 122 years (122 valedictorian titles), the seven of them have been picked by their peers. So, in theory, who the new student council is actually facing is the totality of Hyakkaou history.

Kirari is watching the event on her phone.
