Three Hit Dice (スリーヒットダイス) is a gamble from Kakegurui Twin. It is played by Yukimi Togakushi and Mary Saotome, when Sachiko Juraku wanted to close down the gambling den. The dealer is Mikura Sado.
Rules[]
The rules of the game are very simple. Mikura will roll the dice. The numbers 1, 2, and 3 count as down. 4, 5, and 6 count as up. The players then must guess three consecutive dice rolls by using the letters U for up and D for down. They write their guesses on cards. They then give the cards to Mikura and she starts rolling. Mikura keeps on rolling until it lands three consecutive times like a player's guess.
Game[]
After Mikura explains the rules, she gives each of them papers to write down their riddles. After writing, Mary nervously thinks that if she lost, she would definitely become a pet, so she had to win. Tsuzura wonders what Mary wrote and thought about the odds of that game, which Mary, in her own thoughts, contradicted. Meanwhile, Mikura was rolling the dice.
But everyone was surprised when Mikura announced that Yukimi had won the game with her guessing. As promised, Sachiko left the place for her, but noticed that she looked flustered and very surprised. Mary, however, asked them to play again, not caring if the bet doubled, convincing her to void the game, preventing Yukimi's protests about it.
Sachiko claimed they wouldn't bet money that time, asking Mikura to show a collar. Seeing Mary's confusion, she explained that it was made for her: if she lost, she would become her personal pet, act like a dog. He grabbed Mikura's neck and proceeded to hang her, getting a strange reaction from the others present and let go not too many seconds later. However, Mary agreed, interrupting Tsuzura Hanatemari's worried phrases.
Thinking she was bold, Sachiko made Mikura manage the second round and handed the papers to both of them. Mary not only took out her writing pen, she also took out her water bottle, drank some of its contents and wrote on her thighs, then set it (the bottle) beside her on the table. Mary's paper said "UUU" (Up, Up, Up, "loud, high, high") when she handed it to Mikura.
After she got them, she started rolling the dice for each round. Tsuzura was worried about it, but thought that Mary must have some basis for saying that she would win this way. Mikura was actually cheating as a croupier to make Yukimi win at the behest of Sachiko, who wants to make her his personal pet. She wanted to be useful to her "mistress".
However, Mary spilled water on her own paper, much to Mikura's confusion. She wiped the wet surface and tried to proceed with round four, to which Mary said it wasn't necessary as long as "DDU" (Down, Down, Up, "Down, Down, Up") was correct, being her win. When Mikura looked at Mary's paper, it was just as she had said.
She explained that she had noticed Mikura's trick to make Yukimi win and had also noticed how nervous she looked that she had "won", as if she really hadn't, actually. Annoyed, she asked how she managed to write "DDU" if it was "UUU" before and it was simple: she used nail remover and even thanked Mikura for making things easier for her.
Cheating[]
There are two cheats that were performed during the two rounds of Three Hit Dice.
- Changing a Player's Prediction. This cheat was done by the dealer, Mikura Sado, at the request of Sachiko Juraku. After looking at both player's submitted predictions, Mikura will quickly and discreetly swap out Yukimi Togakushi's actual prediction with one that would put her at an advantage.
- Using Nail Polish Remover to Write Down Part of Your Prediction. This cheat was done by Mary Saotome, and is what won her the second match against Yukimi Togakushi. Mary used acetone based nail polish remover, to write down of her actual answer, DDU. But once dried the nail polish remover was no longer visible on the card, making it look like she wrote down UUU as her prediction. Mary then intentionally knocked over her drink and got the card wet, causing the lines written in nail polish remover to appear.
Results[]
Sachiko congratulated and praised Mary's attitude, confirming her words that she never said they should write with a pen, explaining all the probabilities in numbers of her having possibly won or lost that game. Mary answered her boldly how betting really was a matter of luck and didn't doubt Sachiko's words about making her her personal pet. She congratulated her again and announced that the salon was Mary's, silencing Yukimi over her protests.
